Bought a WRX today.... suckaaaa
 

Ok i sold my Hatchback just about a week ago and my next project was going to be a JDM SIR2 civic it was going to be a right hand drive and B16 and all that ----... So i found that jdm front end and then i started looking for a usdm shell that i could use for my read end and ----, so a friend gave me phone # of this one guy that had a shall, so i went to that dude's plase to see the shell and while I was there he was like "dude don't buy that shell, by my WRX" i was like WTF??? so he showed me that WRX ( it's 2002 model) and it's a theft recovery with 18,000 K miles on it missing seats, door panels, front and rear bumper, hood, headlights, exhaust, wheels and an I/C... But good thing is it's got clean title :) He told me he wanted $6500 for it i talked him down to $6200 and he even got the car towed to my house for free... so i figure with all of the ---- that i have to get i'll be about 8-9K into that car, i checked the KBB.com and that ---- goes for like 19K... i am exited about driving it soon :D 8)

If its a theft recovery than its not a clean title. It'll be titled as a "theft recovery"

No dude it never went through the insurance company... Dude showed me the carfax report on it, and it's clean...

Thats very odd. Usually when your car is stolen you report it to the insurance company to get money for it. If it was never reported stolen he could have never claimed money for it. This would mean he still has an outstanding loan on the car becuase its highly unlikely that he paid off a $26,000 car in under 2 years. Therefore, if he never reported it to insurance he is most likely still paying for the car that he now sold to you.



Wait a little bit and do another carfax on it, cause something doesn't sound right. He might have done the carfax report right after it was stolen when it wouldn't show up on the report yet

I believe you can have a "theft recovery" car with a clean title. If I am correct, a vehicle gets a salvage title if the damage done is greater than the value of the car. Or basically when the insurance company considers it as a total loss.

For example, a friend of mine reported his eg to the insurance company, due to vandalizim, and the insurance company considered it a total loss, but he didn't want a salvage title, so he took less money and to this day the car still has a clean title.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. And being that the car still holds a value of 19k, all the missing items sure don't add up to more than 19k.

you can get a salvage title car back to clean title.. just a pain in the ass and hassle to do it.

---- it man, good find, you will have it back together for a couple grand, and have a paid off wrx that cost you less than 10k, then you can trade it in/sell it in a year or two and make some good profit. who cares if it's shady, as long as you got a bill of sale from the guy, it can't come back on you anyways.

All you have to do is get a level 2 check out from the mvd, then they replace your VIN, and you get a clean title.

exactly what i was going to say. The laws vary from state to state and some states wont allow it though like florida you can buy theft recoveries and wrecked cars and bikes for next to nothing in florida because they cant be reregistered

Congrats on the new car, I also have a 2002 WRX in WR blue. I paid $18,000 for it. Check Ebay for used parts, I see a lot of bumpers doors, fenders and stuff like that going pretty cheap. I go to WRXfanatics.com, good people, lots of info.

the first 'hatch' looks better imo, the second one, the rear is too short. 300 bhp < turbo b series whp ;D na, but they are sweet, i'm gonna get one when my car is paid off (2 yrs.) cause i want to keep the si, not trade it in and i already have 2 car payments, that's the last thing i need. i've been in love with them since they came out, but i wasn't making as much chedda as i am now. plus, in 2 yrs., i'll be able to pick up an 02 or 03 for under 15k easily.

Hell yeah, I like the 02-03 better, since they came out. So I waited paitently and got mine about 4 months ago. The guy had all the original paper work and receipts. He paid 28,000 for it, and 2 years latter traded it for an STi, I got it for 18500.

In 2 or 3 years I'm sure yoou'll find one for 15g's

i want an sti :( everyday at work during break my boy who owns one lets me drive it around. I hate getting out that car when breaks over. One day im just going to just drive off with that car

Umm they are slow. I actually thought they were really cool until I seen them on the street and then I raced one and beat him pretty bad. I don't really consider my car very fast either. I guess I just wasn't impressed. Maybe I need to drive one to like it. :-\

Maybe, because they are really not that slow. They are hard to drive, lets say different than any honda. I've seen a few out there that look, run slow, but I have only lost to a honda Once, I was completely stock, he had a bunch of ----. Now I don't loose against him.

they were pretty quick up until the last major redesign (when they came out with the WRX in the US). They were between 2700 and 2800 lbs. now they're between 3100 and 3200 :P supposedly much much stiffer though. damn that's a big weight penalty.

Yeah the guy that i bought the car from is an auto dealer and i have bill of sale and plates and all that ----, so he told me that the dude that owned the car before paid it all off and i guess at the time the car got jecked he didn't have insurance or maybe he didn't have a full coverage or some ----... but if there is something fishy i could always come after the dealer dude... and then i'll realy ---- him up

And yeah i sold my hatch for $5700 added $500 and ended up with the WRX... ;D

that sucks ass man. i saw a post on another site from a guy that rolled his 03 f-250 and he didn't have insurance on it at the time because he was in between jobs, he had pics and i really felt for the 30k that he has to pay out of his pocket. but by the pics, if i was to roll a vehicle, that would be it, the driver area was untouched, rest of the truck = scrap metal.

I dont know about the wrx but i know the sti aren't slow even with the weight. It hurts them a little but there pretty quick once you get use to it. Driving a sti is not like driving a honda :-\

i do have a video of my bro on his dyno jet at the subaru dealership. kinda kool that a subie dealerrship has a dynojet and a tuner. cool beans. we ended up making like 250 hp at the wheels. well we have a full turbo back exhaust.and an intercooler with a 255 wlboro fuel pump. with a sbc id and power meter id and acf2. thats it. we went in there with 180 at the wheels ( 165 is stock i believe atw/?) and left with about 250 at the wheels. kinda beautiful.
