Wow, I thought I was the only one dumb enough to do something like that? :-[ I still owed like $1700 on my car and it was parted out like a stolen car in California. It really sucked paying for a car that you couldn't drive. I sold the remains for $20 just to get it out of my garage. Now I have a new one sitting in the garage all tore up, but it's payed for. 8)

thanks alot Boost now im scared again :'(

lol, you ----- :P Just boost it. It's not like the car is going to blow up if the motor does. Throw a new motor in it and boost it again. 8)

Mines paid off and 90% boosted. I love it, cause if I blow an engine then I have some money left over every month to get a new one. Another cool thing is that we paid off my wife's Cabrio yesterday. It feels good to have to paid cars, but the Cabrio is for sale so we can get a new car. Oh well, back to debt. :P

Re:Boosting while paying off car

I purposely bought my car using a line of credit instead of a car loan. The car was only $3000, and the car loan would have had a substantially lower rate, but with the line of credit I keep the title, which means I only pay for liability only insurance (about $300 every six months). Then, if something terrible goes wrong, I can always take a draw on my line of credit to pay for what I need to fix the car and it's just like it's on my car loan.

Anyway, the line of credit doesn't have that high of an interest rate, but you'd only want to do this on a little bit older of a car that isn't too expensive (and be confident that you won't be at fault if you crash the dumb thing!!)

well, my car will be paid off in less than two years and i plan on keeping it for a while afterwards and just put my what would be payment, towards engines, building and replacing the engine every year would be cheaper than making payments, not to mention, if worst comes to worst and your broke and blow your engine, what's the most you'll have to spend? 5 or 600 on pistons/rods, just sell some of your turbo kit if you have to then buy a better set up as you get the money and you'll have a built block this time. where theres a will, theres a way..

wow...

I was going to buy a WRX about two years ago but I balied out at the last moment (already made a downpayment) because the thought of having a car payment really bothered me. Anybody else never have a car payment?

how the ---- are you suppose to have a nice car with out a payment unless you have mad loot to drop 10-15k cash?? i personally am not happy with a hoop-d, but that's just me :-\

don't get me wrong I don't have "mad loot" to drop on the S2000 I will be buying in a year or so. A car payment on a $34k car is no joke.

My uncle is another story. He drove an 87 Nissan Maxima for years... probably put about 320k miles on it... always maintained. And even though he always drove the same car, he was making big money in his job... ended up buying a new BMW 540 about a year ago for cash. :o I don't have that kind of self control. ;)
