Boat problem

So last weekend i was out drinking with some buddies on my pontoon. As luck would have it, we ran out of gas when we were almost at my house. Considering we were shitfaced, we figured it would be a good idea to throw some moonshine in the gas tank to limp us home, and surprisingly, it worked. Now i filled the tank and it runs fine, but it misses a little while it's idling and then will stall out. Not that it ever idled great in the first place, but i'm assuming the alcohol fucked with the octane rating or there's possibly some water in there. Other than idle it runs fine. You guys have any ideas for additives i should add to it to bring it back to life?

drain the tank and clean the bowl out on the carb to get all the water out before that ---- rusts.

Re: Boat problem

did you mix oil in the moonshine? if not i bet you have a compression problem now. bad compression will run great, but have a bad idle in a lot of cases

all the pontoon boats around here are old and you have to premix.

he says its 4 stroke, not a 4 tech. 4tech = bombardier gayness. plastic everything ftl

If throwing alcohol into the tank is what caused the problem, how is throwing more alcohol in the tank going to fix it?

no ----, but 4 tec = bombardier

and why are you talking about it being fuel injected because its 4 stroke? and where did you talking about 4 tec even come from?

etec by evinrude

Fulfilling the need for speed. It's the combination of lightweight and high torque that make E-TEC accelerate faster and achieve higher top speeds than almost any other outboard in its class. 90° V6 with 3.3 liters of displacement for the ultimate in power and torque No maintenance for three years. No oil, no problem. Longer engine life. Cleanest engine in the world. Uses less fuel. Runs quiet. Full-throttle from day one. Less corrosion. Stay looking like new.

3.3l V6 2 smoker

What water?? Are you dense? Do you have any idea what a fuel dryer is and how it's supposed to work?

All of that aside, if there was any significant water in the 'shine, it wasn't good shine.

If it was good shine would they be so willing to dump it in their tank for fuel? :3

I know a drunken me is much more protective of alcohol :P

So you aren't aware that fuel dryer is alcohol?

It's trash from running the tank dry, get off the anti-shine kick.

Clear the tanks, lines, etc & check/replace the plugs.

Same thing happened to us when we limped around on 1/2 diesel, 1/2 crystal springs (190proof)

yeah i think that's what it's going to come down to. I mean the thing runs mint above 1500 rpm, but it just won't idle. And plus i'm thinking the shine sucked and probably had a little water in it. Or possibly lowered the octane rating? Cause alcohol is less volatile than gas right? Idk.

dumped about 4 ounces of fuel stabilizer in it. Runs like a charm O0
