Well, I tore the engine apart, here's the culprit:



And Whitey, you asked about the valves... I figure the rod had already snapped before the valves came into contact with the piston, so the piston likely just gave way when they hit. Think it's saleable? The valves just have some scratches on the edges:

bad idea, unless you're trying to blow it up... it might not happen right away, but I give it 1000 miles or less.

Them valves..i'd turn the cam so the valves close,then fill the compression chamber up with gasoline and see if it comes out either one of the ports.
