Congrats folks!! Do yourself a favor, don't spend a ton of money on a huge wedding, it's just a big show for the guests anyway. Go to Jamaica for a week, get married down there and have a great time, that is what my wife and I did. Our wedding actually took place under a pavillion that was surrounded by the ocean, there was a sidewalk that led out to it right from the beach. It was cool. Then when we got back, so we could celebrate with friends, we just had a big cookout at a park, it was really cool.

Hell just go get married at the courthouse and spend the rest on a big fat turbos setup for both your cars.

We were thinking about going away somewhere tropical to get married, but we have family that wouldnt go and would want to be at the wedding though. I really want to get married on the beach just before sunset. I was thinking to rent a private beach in port stanly here. We still have lots of time to think about it!

Thanks everyone!

Re:BLING

congrats guys!

as for the local beach wedding, my aunt got married on the beach in port dover a couple years ago. it was only immediate family so i wasn't there but i was told it was very nice.

you better start planning now though, even for 2 years down the road. there are waiting lists everywhere you go it seems.

my wife and I eloped, and then had a nice reception at home. We got married in a gazebo on the beach with our 2 best friends there as wittnesses. ohh yeah, and it POURED down rain to. my wife says thats good luck, but i never heard that before. ???

I think our marriage cost a total of about $250 or something like that.

Re:BLING

i would really like a nice expensive wedding, because it is a 'milestone' in your life, but at the same time, i would almost rather have a mortage. I cant decide but we are going to be happy with whatever we choose, and will always have the memories. And i also found a picture of my ring.

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg

its the white gold.

Re:BLING

god damn....
i don't think i would get married until i have enough money in the bank to be able to support a wife and kids with out working for the rest of my life....
it just seems like such a big step and that your going to have A LOT more responsibilities...not to mention kids that are dependent upon every decision you make. That doesn't scare the ---- out of anyone else??

SkunT 12-21-2004 11:46 AM

Re:BLING

my wifes ring is very similar to "D". Best $4,000 i ever spent.

But as someone else said, i wouldnt spend alot on the ring, spend it on a down payment on a home.

are you guys still living with the parents?

Thats my best man....and yeah he's white :P.

Mrs.Spoon if you really want an amazing wedding just do it.If people really love you and spoon then they will pay there own way to get to your weding in paradise.

My weding was small(only 75 people)and they all payed for their own ocomedations. We paid for 100 dinner plates(fillet mignon and grilled shrimp 8))and 400drinks.We just sent out invitations and told them that the hotel offerd them special rates and they showed up couse they wanted to share in our special day.The whole wedding cost us over $15k.My wife and I busted our asses for a year to pay for it.But now we look at the pictures and we know that it was deffenitly worth it.

This should be your only time getting maried so I would say just go all out!The memories of your weding will be priceless.

if you think like this you will never be ready. people like to plan things out exactly and then when they don't all fall into place as expected they are disappointed. sometimes you just have to "get it done". getting married and having a child are the best things i've ever done in my life, i wish i had started sooner. it has made me a better person in every aspect. i look forward to each time i see my wife and baby girl.
you just don't know what your life is going to bring in the future so don't spend too much time worrying about it, just live it and go with the flow.

IDK, I like to think everything I do today will shape my future tommorow. Meaning if I put my head to it, its gonna happen. It may not be exactly what I have pictured in my head, but it WILL be in the general direction of what I wanted it to be. If that made any sense... ::)

On another note. I think when I get married, cause I would like to someday (lol, but I dont even have a girlfriend right now), I'm gonna try and convince her to just get legally married for the first year. Then on our anniversary, we have a traditional wedding. Reason being, if for whatever reason we dont work out (look at the divorce rate), it be a shame to waste 5-10g's on a huge wedding that you probably wouldnt want to remember if your trying to move on. Also since they say the first year of marriage is the hardest it would be fitting having a big wedding celebrating the fact your over the hump.

Re:BLING

How many people have you shown your ring? Have you shown people you don't even know yet? Or how about this while your in the check out line do you wiggle your fingers while you are writing the check and hope that the cashier notices so you can tell her too? I worked at a country club and the people would show anybody that was there and I have seen so many I don't really care. But I had to act like its the best thing I have ever seen. It's suck. Thats why I paint cars now. Not that I don't care about yours. Its pretty damn big. That would have bought a big turbo and a nice built engine.

i actually bought my mom lipstick today for christmas and the broad behind me was staring at my louis vuitton purse, then when i went to pull money out of it she totally stared at it, and then i was like BOW DOWN!
but i dont show strangers, i really havent told anyone, just a handful.....but now that its sized perfect i try and make sure the light hits it good........ ;)
