But the R1 is absolutely amazing.
i have been riding bikes my whole life. from homemade 2.5hp briggs, to yz80's to my cr125r. i am not some kid who just buys a bike cause its cool.

and i have no car payment or any other type of payments. may be taking out a loan for school but it would be small because my tuition isnt bad. i make decent money where i work and i get around 35 hours a week at work and full time at school. i know life doesnt get any easier and i just want to get something i can look forward to riding. this thread wasnt about whether i should get an r6 or not, its what financial steps would be the best for me buying/owning one?

good credit is how you get anything, decent credit will get you some things, no credit will get you an apartment and maybe a macys or bestbuy credit card. Unless you have a decent cosigner. otherwise, you can only dream about it for now

"Hey, I really really want that. I'll just use my credit card."

Not worth it IMHO.

The best financial step for you to take at this point is to NOT buy it. It's your credit though. Don't worry, in 7 years you can have it removed from your credit report. Just be prepared to pay high interest rates for the next 7 years and try not to ---- anything else up in that time or it will only get worse.

loan would not be for the full 8k, or however much i get it for. i would pry have around 3k cash and take a loan out for the rest.

Borrowing money is addictive. It allows you to get what you what when you want it. That sounds like a good thing, but you have to remember that it's not YOURS. Waiting for 'stuff' will teach you to save your money, and spend more carefully. I at a point where I also want a bike, but I'll probably wait another year.

Still.....not much of a difference. I bought my bike for $6500 with tax and bullshit. 5 years later I still owe more than half of that. :P

When I went to buy another bike I had cash to put down and they said money down didn't matter. It's a -0- down type of thing and if you want to "put money down" you can just make a really big first payment. I really didn't understand why, but whatever.

I'm not sure what kind of a loan you're thinking about getting for this? You're not just going to walk into a bank and ask for a personal loan of $5000 with no credit or equity. Chances are the bike dealer is going to have their select couple of finance companies(Most likely GE money bank or HSBC)and the "loan" you're getting is going to be a credit card type of loan. It's revolving, meaning they ---- you in the *** on interest. I got 0% interest for 6 months and 19% for the rest of my life and I had perfect credit at the time.

word. It pisses me off how banks call people who purchase homes "homeowners" 98% of them.. dont own the home.. the bank does.. and they make up this profitable scheme called "credit" to make people believe that they are worth something. When probably 85% of them live paycheck to paycheck.
