Why do you think it's a bad idea, Danno?

I, personally, couldn't get much out of the bible, but it's the average Christian mentality that made me anti-Christian. Obese bitches who can't spell talking loudly in public about their duty to make more Christians (breeding) in order to make the worlkd a better place, etc, all the 1001 little fucked up things that is considered acceptable in Christian culture. The biggest thing, though, is how miserably serious they take the ----... if Jesus was all joy and light, you'd think these people would be happier, right?

The guy who makes the Jesus action figures did it to bring a smile to people's faces, whether they are true believers or people on my end of the spectrum. He's probably a decent guy.

Yeah! Must be! ........ :1

I think it's kinda cool actually, aside from being funny. I mean, Jesus wasn't just some stuck up scary heavenly figure. I can see Jesus playing the occasional practical joke and bringing happiness to people's lives.

Jesus: *to disciples* "Hey guys, get a load of this one."
"Hey Simon Peter! I'm gonna teach you to walk on water."
Simon Peter: "---- yeah Jesus!"
Jesus: "Go run and jump off that pier and you will walk on water!" *wink wink to other disciples.

Simon Peter runs and jumps off the pier and gets dumped in the water as Jesus and all the disciples are in tears laughing at him. What could Simon Peter do? Give Jesus the finger? Hell no. Jesus probably knew that, so he most likely fucked with people all the time (without sinning of course).

maybe if you found god or had some sort of faith in a higher power you wouldnt be a rotten drunk who has amounted to nothing other than a human automotive knowledge book. ;)

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

Funny thing is JD, the Bible speaks about over eating (leading to being fat)

Proverbs 23:20-21 "Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags."

Also 1 Corinthians 3:17 "If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are."

Temple of God referring to your body "your body is the temple of the Lamb" from when you accept Jesus into your life... blah blah blah basically take care of your body.

And also, you shouldn't look at one certain part of a group and make a rash decision based on that (looking at the babbling obese baptists and declaring all Christianity crappy.. etc). But hey, its your agenda not mine ;)

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

Aren't you on the chubbier side Danno?

I agree with JD. 99.9% of Christians like to focus on the 1001 little things you can't do, and not the large picture of what God wants you to do. These are the same pieces of ---- that are more concerned with stem cell research and gay marriage than they are with telling their kids they love them.

HondaTuner 04-20-2007 01:11 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

Chubbier, but not fat. Who cares? I eat right (for the most part... def not a glutton though) and exercise regularly...

99.9%? I'd say that 99.9% Shut their traps and dont say anything. The ones you see out in the streets are the major minority, atleast in this region. Christians here don't do squat as far as that sort of stuff is concerned. The craziest thing our church does is ::omg:: hosts Christmas dinners for the homeless. Wow, that's downright terrible folks

USS 04-20-2007 01:14 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

Holy ----!! One dinner a year? What about the other 364?

From what I've seen, organized religion is just like politics. It looks good on paper, but it's also a good way to waste time/money and get very little in return.

HondaTuner 04-20-2007 01:16 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

Whens the last time you opened your home to the homeless for a free dinner? They do it on other occasions too, ya know. They have their big thing at that point, and a lot of collections goes to the homeless/poor in the area. They also have blood drives/toys for tots/clothes for poor family types of things.

So why you on my nuts?

USS 04-20-2007 01:31 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

First off, I'm not on your 'nuts', so never say that again.

Secondly, when was the last time YOU opened up your house to a homeless person? I never once said that I was an establishment that worked to help others when they are in need.

Dan, accept the fact that your religion is a hoax, and that your "goody two shoes" attitude is just a byproduct of you being raised to believe that bullshit. If you want to help the homeless, help them find a job, place to sleep, ect. A warm meal is out of there system in less than 24 hours.

noboostedEGo 04-20-2007 01:33 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

so the first complaining about religion is because people are too into it....

and the second complaint is people don't do enough....

hoax this hoax that. the point is, it's FAITH-based, meaning christians don't need proof or scientific evidence to believe in it. atheists can never get over that it seems at times.

USS 04-20-2007 01:47 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

No, you didn't read my post dumbass.

People are too into minor ---- that the bible consists of and MISS the LARGE picture. I never said I was atheist, I never said that you needed proof. I'm simply saying that if you're going to have faith in something, DO IT!!!! If you put so much trust and energy into something like Christianity and the bible, don't be a ------- hypocrite.

noboostedEGo 04-20-2007 01:55 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

and you read too much into my post, "dumbass"

i never called you an atheist, nor did i say YOU were the primary source of complaining.

ik what you're saying about being hypocritical, but at the same time, standards are so high (people should def. shoot for them, but it's hard).

what i mean is, it's much easier to live without standards not only to society, but also to God, or one's fellow christian community in general. and i'm not speaking about myself here, i'm speaking an arbitraritly chosen person.

so it seems unfair for atheists (once again not saying you) to call christians hypocrites because they're not in the peace corps, or because they make some poor decisions just as all people do.

and i'm really tired so i'm probably not conveying my points very tactfully, or i may not sound very objective, but i'm trying.

Nice touch :)

I definitely understand what you're saying. I used to be a Christian and, quite frankly, haven't figured out what I "believe" anymore, if anything at all.

I still want a "Buddy Christ" action figure.

noboostedEGo 04-20-2007 02:08 AM

Re: Best Jesus site, ever.

hell yeah!

but it sounds like we think semi-similarly. i def. consider myself a christian, but at the same time, some things just don't seem to add up.

i think people need to make a personal "journey" out of religion, and actually THINK about things, as well as consult The Bible etc, and interpret that. if you think about it, being a mindless yes-man in religion really is dangerous. especially with some principles that were firmly preached at one point in history, that modern-day practitioners of the same religion would condemn as being ludicrous, evil even.

but yeah, more tomorrow. snafu, how's that burner workin out for ya? haha

We can tell. I mean, you aren't online at least four hours a day, and you aren't out making money in that time or you'd be able to afford a sweet HMT setup. It's all situps and cardiovascular workouts, right?
