Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

Ok so im buying a 94 civic 4 door ex for 1g next month from my girls brother. Its totally stock and im looking at a couple of different things like paint and suspension. Already Found a set of rims for pretty decent price. Ordered my pistons and rings for my built zc. I just hate how tall the car is, and a lowered 4 door is pretty sexy. So im looking for the best bang for my buck suspension components. Would like them to be spring and shock kind, and hopefully under $300-350 with shipping. I looked all over ebay, but all they have is those hard ass springs that make your car bounce more than a strippers tits. So anybody got some good budget suspension parts they want to let me know about? Already searched the sponsers, no luck. Hate going to h-t or houston imports, but it looks like i might have to.

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

Thanks. Yeah its a 5 speed. Only thing wrong with it is its purple. But i already ordered some gunmetal paint with eurothane clear coat so that will fix it. And get it dropped on flik blast 15" http://edgeracing.com/1994/Honda/Civic/wheel/27/.
Only 156,xxx miles. Second motor. He blew the first one up and paid a shop around here to get him a new motor. $1500 and it was a junkyard motor. d15b2 i think (people gave me hell about that in the last post, but i swear im sure thats what the block said.) So no MAd JayYdEEmmm vVVVVVtack for me, but with a built boosted dual cam zc ill be happy without it. I just replaced a head gasket on it about a week ago and the only problem i could see was 1 intake valve in the #1 cylinder was leaking a tiny tiny bit. Wall looked great, no lip around the edge. Coolant cuased a build up of rust around the water jacket, but we flushed it out and it was perfect. Seriously, before i figured a headgasket i flushed his radiator and it was like orange koolaid. Twice. But after the gasket got replaced, its perfect. Motor supposedly has about 45,xxx on it. But to find a low mileage d series in a junkyard around here is like walking into your room to find the hottest girl in the world using a golden dildo on video for you.
Anybody ever use these edelbrock ones? the bottom one. http://www.speedyperformanceparts.co...6&brandid=3737

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

tokico blues + tein s-techs.

Cheap, but can still handle very well. might be bouncy cus the s-techs are ------- soft as hell, but it will give you a nice drop.

For better handling, I'd go with some nuespeed sports or eibach sports.

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

i got ksports full coilovers just cause it was about the same price as struts and springs n ---- and i probly wont even have the car in a year when the warranty runs out, there cheap and adjustable and you can dump your car without losing strut travel if you want, and adjust the ride stiffness, drflickner on h-t / jlb motorsports sells em for little over 500 shipped

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

I went with Progress springs and KYB AGX struts. The struts I got on Ebay for 275 or so for all 4 and the springs were like 150 ish.

springs:
http://progressauto.com/store/produc...roducts_id=297

struts:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-A...mZ160115100404

BTW that seller of the struts has other ---- for sale too, he has some spring and strut combos you might want to look at for around 450-500 I bought my AGX's from him so I can vouche he's decent

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

Don't buy shocks from Ebay. Most of them aren't authorized dealers, so if something is fucked up you're screwed.

www.shox.com is where I ordered my tokico blues. I've got some 450/550 skunk2 coilovers on them... we'll see how it makes a 1800 lb car handle.

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

if your going to cheap out on your suspension just leave it stock. get cheap ---- not only give you a shitty ride, but then it also beats up on your bushings, control arms, ball joints and youll end up replacing all that sooner than you would need to. eehh but if you really want to be cheap, keep it gangsta and cut your springs

I don't plan on cheaping out on it. Thats like saying hmt cheaps out on there turbo kits. Im just looking for a good coilover/strut combination for a good price. Looking at around $300-$350 hopefully. I would definatly like an adjustable set because i like my cars low, but if i have to a good 2" drop would be ok. Looks like i will be going for the edelbrock ones. Hopefully that is for all 4 and not just one.

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

Beware of the ebay tein s-tech springs...almost all of them are fake junk. H&R springs are pretty good for the money, as are the tokico blue shocks but they lack adjustability. I run the tokico illumina 5-way adjustables and they really make a big difference in ride quality depending on the setting, and good handling is just a few turns away. ;)

$208 for the shocks

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H-R-S...QQcmdZViewItem

$170 for H&R sport spring, total = $378 shipped.

OR

$150 for Tein spring, total = $358 shipped

I'd go for the H&R. Much more progressive spring.

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

I've heard alot of good about D2s or Ksport. My friends got em and the shocks stiffen up tighter than koni yellows, the spring rates are your choice, which is tits awesome and they are purple like your car so your car can be gay with your suspension and make babies. He has had them over a year and they dont suck yet so who knows if they outlast yellows, I doubt it but the whole coilover costs what a set of koni yellows cost. Anything less than yellows is ------- gay.

E-b0la 05-17-2007 08:19 AM

Re: Best bang for LOW buck suspension?

---- the GR2s they're like an OEM strut. Quit cheaping so much and get the AGX's they'll be able to handle the higher spring rates of aftermarket lowering spings better than the GR-2s will.

Yellows are ------- money though. He's looking for a good price on decent suspension not to get raped in the ass by koni.

Like i said earlier, the car is getting painted before the suspension gets put on. Gunmetal grey
