bisis has changed his motors more than anyone can keep up with I promise that motor in his car now isnt a destroked 2.0L All Motor=Go really big why all the k24+motors make so much power |
Re: B18 Stroker Cranks... Tuner Toys wants your opinions.
I've got the LS crank, rods and pistons in my B18C. The torque gains were barely noticeable. It just feels like a really strong GSR motor. Got maybe a 1/2 car length on the identical swap in a 2nd gear pull to redline and we were running an identical ignition map. I'm about 1/2 point lower in CR than him at 9.67. It was considerably quicker than a similarily equipped B16 swap. I used the LS pistons and rods to avoid coming out of the hole too far. Had to mill some oil squirter holes in the piston skirts. With a shorter rod I could have used the GSR pistons or some B16 ones.
http://www.redliners.ca/iB_html/uplo...-IMG_8165s.jpg With turbo it should be just fine. The trouble with stroking the ---- out of these motors is the extreme piston speeds and a lot of side loading on the sleeves. B series motors don't take well to this. As a result you won't be able to spin it to 8500 every day and see it last. With the longer stroke I've beat the hell out of my B18C1 but I kept the rev limit at 8250. Given the costs involved it would be a tough choice to stroke out a B when the H or the K are reasonably priced. I did mine with spare parts left over from other engine builds and got the engine with spun rod bearings for $400. If you have a B16 and you're going to crack it open for a freshening up then yes I'd say it would be a part to look at. -Michael |
Re: B18 Stroker Cranks... Tuner Toys wants your opinions.
if you crack open a b16 for any reason it should be to add a GSR, LS, or b20 bottom end, the only thing b16's are good for are the heads

Re: B18 Stroker Cranks... Tuner Toys wants your opinions.
Eh, I've revved LS bottom ends to 9500+. With enough boost there's plenty of power up there.

Re: B18 Stroker Cranks... Tuner Toys wants your opinions.
as long as you dont go way big on the bore the side loading isnt a prob, the reason you cant rev an LS is the rocker arm design, not the R/S ratio BS

Not to mention the K motors won't be comming around anytime soon to put them within a budget of someone who isnt on mom and dads credit cards.... :-\

Gee, I dunno about that, 88DX. Some H22s run pretty strong, and can own 170 whp turbo D15B2/7's all day long for only seven times the price.
Seriously, a really hot stroked + bored NA engine is a LOT of fun to drive. They don't make nearly enough power to be worth a fraction of the money that goes into them, but a lot of people are NA dumbasses and insist on going that route. If these are affrordable stroker cranks I can make the local dildoes build really hot NA engines for me to play with and I don't have to spend a dime. :y |
