That's one nice amp there Bone! I used to love the Memphis equipment (my old 1000D was the ---- until it nuked :P) but if you want to go for the old-school try finding an old Earthquake or Zeus HiFonics HCA :D

speaking my langauge son!

M. Belle to run front mids/tweets, bass channels to some 8" midbass up front, the another mono amp of same footprint to handle the subs.

Simple install, no major flash needed, just BALLS OUT LOUD! Mitek Corp. tried it, but just not enough IMHO.

Mitek = MTX for the newbs.

That is old school? Lol.

I still lust after the old Soundstrean Class A 10.0 and the third gen Orion HCCA 225.

The PPI Art series is pretty old school IMO.

;D

Sorry buddy, the HCCA Earthquake and Zeus HiFonics were kings of the 80's. My old Earthquake was rated at 40wrms@8ohms and 4,000wrms@1ohm...talk about a cheater amp. Nothing like shredding Image Dynamix 15" subs to pieces with that amp. But for all fairness yes, they were in the same heyday as the Soundstream's and Orion's when they were still good.

Ahh Mitek! Now there's a name I haven't heard in years! Now if only MTX would go back to the same quality they used to have then maybe they'd have a decent product again. I think their peak was probably around the time of the 7000 series subs...I'd kill to find a mint set of 7000's these days.

I never really got t a chance to play with any of the Earthquakes of Hifonics. :P

MTX = garbage as of right now.
Soundstream hasn't been good since the arrival of the Runicon series IMO.
Xtant, probably one of my favorites, went down the crapper after JL Audio ripped off their design. Hence why JL Audio makes a killer amp now a days. I want my old 121m back. :(
Orion went down the tubes shortly after their 3rd generation of amplifiers.
Fosgate went to ---- after you could start buying it at Worst Buy.
Lanzar went to ----, but I think they may be making a come back. Not sure about that though. The Opti series were bad ass.

Meh, I really lost a lot of interest in car audio after DEI went around buying everybody up.

I honestly don't know who the heavy hitters are anymore.

I hear ya man, most good old-school brands went to ----. There's not much decent out there any more, I know Earthquake still makes amps but I can't vouch for the newer model's quality. Zapco is always a sure bet if you can afford one, Alpine is fine for an entry level product, but I'd probably say Memphis and JL are probably some of the better one's out right now.

I love how manufacturers are publishing fewer and fewer specs on car audio equipment, hell most consumer grade audio equipment in general.

I love looking at those 1000 watt home theaters in a box and laughing. Seeing THDs in a range from 1-10 % cracks me up. Oh the good ole days of moderately priced audio equipment that could reproduce a signal with a THD in the range of 0.00x %.

Consumer grade equipment with a signal to noise ratio in excess of 100 dB seems to be a rarity anymore. Dynamic range. What the hell is that anymore?

As long as it is flashy and will multi task like a ----------er, nobody seem to be interested anymore.

Dual is the number one selling brand of head unit for fucks sake. Those things are utter garbage.

Haha, dual, like the walmart crap?

People are for the most part dumb, and just look at numbers. If a amp is rated for 10kW and has 1w RMS, they'll probably buy them by the assload.

Ok so went and grabbed some wood and latex sealer from the Home Depot. $12 for the entire box. I think I should have went with thicker board, but all they had out was 1/2" MDF. Anyways. Somehow it came out off by a few cm, which pissed me off leaving gaps. Fixed it and sealed it good. Put one of the Audiobahn 12"s in it running off one VC bridged. Sounds freaking great.
