it's all about the short cut keys.... closing programs at the touch of a button. shooting windows away with one button. closing windows, opening windows, all with two keys.

check out the short cuts when you get the computer. trust me you won't be dissatisfied

i agree. Being able to juggle through so many programs at a touch of a key button is so convient. I like that fact that 2 fingers let me scroll on the track pad. As far as photoshop CS I was a little upset with them changing a lot of shortcut keys but i was more upset with the way the changed Flash MX 2004. I've gotten use to most of the CS programs now and it's now biggy.
But that's why you have preferences and you can change them to your specifications:) Nothings permanent.
I've been putting off upgrading to Tiger but my photography professor had it on her computer the day after it can out and i was impressed
Ima get it but not in any rush. There is still stuff on OS X I dont know about :P

nah nah nah yall got it wrong.

you shouldnt be able to click on an icon to pen a program. this is what you do
hit ctrl+alt+f1 or whatever and type in firefox. exit out of there and firefox is open. need photoshop? pfft. type in... GIMP... works the sme as firefox.

linux, the dirvers for linux is a bi of a scare. i usually tell people with linux this... if it doesnt work from the beginging, it wont work in the end. unless you know how to code for hardware then go ahead, but otherwise, no. but linux is getting upgraded all the time.

I LOVE this iPod, 60GB is gonna be hard to fill up. Have about 9GB on it so far, 3 days, worth of music. If FedEx's shipping follows the same path as last time I should have the Powerbook tomorrow, waited a week already and the wait is killing me. What is a good P-2-P service on OS X besides Bit Torrent?

Just got my powerbook, this thing is really nice. Now I just gotta unlearn all the stuff I had to do with Windows, anyone have any tips for me that I might find useful while I acquaint myself with the new OS? Using a 60 day free trail of .mac so I'm sure I'll be using their tutorial section a lot.

Re: Apple users?

ok

hold <apple> and press <tab>, then you can continue to press tab while holding <apple> to shift from program to program.

press <apple> <~> to jump from window to window in the same program.

<apple><Q> = quit
<apple><w> = close window
<apple><shift><w>= close all windows
<apple><o> = open
<apple><i> = info

there are alot more. like apple s save and so on. those will get you started.
also drag your hardrive icon into your dock, and then click and hold on the icon in the dock and it opens like a start menu.

oh <apple><right arrow> = move back a page in safari.
and left arrow is forward.
space bar advances the page down one page.

oh and a cool one
<apple><shift><4> = high light any area of the screen and it will take a picture and save it as pdf to the desk top.

there are plenty more.

Thanks for the tips chris, just got home from being gone all weekend and I downloaded a program with a .sit extension. It said I need OS X 10.1 or newer and I'm running 10.4 so I shouldn't have a problem with it...it says I don't have a default program for it. What program do I need to install this thing?

down load a program called Stuff it. it's the equivilant to win zip. also unzips win zip files aswell.

go to a site called www.versiontracker.com. download a program called acquisition. that's basicaly like lime wire. then search for stuff it. should work. macs pretty compatible between operating systems. that's all you need
