Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

yea make sure you do, also what are the specs on this motor(compression, bore, stroke, factory hp/torque)

Mista_Shrpnl 05-16-2004 03:17 AM

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

Im currently running 9.5:1 compression, which will be good for 9-10 lbs.

As for bore/stroke, let me get back to ya, as I dont remember off the top of my head.

Factory specs are:
55 hp @ 5700 rpm
58 ft lbs @ 3300 rpm. :o

In a month or so after everyhting is all worked out, I will be taking a dyno run, and will post the results for ya guys.

Why a Geo Metro you ask? Why not lol

Cool ----, it better be a stick shift, what fuel management are you going to use for the turbo?

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

how much boost are you planning on running?

at 9lbs you should see about 80-90hp right?

Go you!

Nice to see that we are getting some cool people joining that can spell good and seem to know their ----.

This sounds like an interesting project, let us know if you need any help. You sure about running 3 carbs? Seems like a lot of things that could go wrong.

That thing would scream if you got the weight down pretty good. Is it the convertible, 2 door hatch or 4 door hatch? The weight of these might machines is 1,620 pounds. Heck, you get the weight down and the boost up, that car will scream. GL with the project, keep us posted!

ahehehe, thats an awesome project to work on. Only on HMT will you find something like this where the owqner has the drive and determination to turbo whatever they've got. I love it. good luck with the setup, and I'm sure it's already been said about 100 times, but be sure to take pics.

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

Ok, so I hope I get back to everyone...

jn2003: At 9 psi, and with my current modifications, Im hoping to hit the 100 hp mark.

quadnie: Thanks, I try ;D as for the triple carb set up, Im currently running 3 carbs, and havent had too many problems with the setup. I am currently redesigning the setup with a different carb setup to go with the turbo.Although being a little tricky, I dont forsee too many problems boosting it.

Sinister: I have the 2 door hatch model.Ive gotten the weight down to roughly 1400 lbs, and Im looking into reducing it even more.

I will keep everyone posted, and will take pics as I go, just need to score a digi cam. This project has been eating the funds like a hungry 12 year old :) Right now im just waiting to buy a couple things, and should have the install going in the next couple weeks.

What kind of manifold are you using and were did you get it? One of my friends wants to turbo his Geo but I haven't been able to find him a mani.

I think he'll gain more than just 40 hp with 9psi.

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

stock internals?

Mista_Shrpnl 05-16-2004 01:21 PM

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

Quadnie: Internals are stock for the moment.Ive sourced some pistons out of a turbo pontiac firefly which I will be installing at a later point, which should allow me to raise boost to around 13-15 psi safely. Also looking into some custom Valves so I dont blow those as well.

Tmonarky: Which manifold are you speaking of? Intake-Intake plenum, or Exhaust?

Either way, everything is going to be a custom made piece, with exception of exhaust manifold. And even that will need some modifications to work correctly.

Still havent decided if I want to go the Water Injection route yet or not.

TMonarky 05-16-2004 02:38 PM

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

Exhaust

quadnie 05-16-2004 02:51 PM

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

You can water inject fairly cheaply. If you are going out this far on your setup, worth the extra effort for WI.

Minor Threat 05-16-2004 02:56 PM

Re:Anything goes, well then here I am!

Yeah, WI would be cheap and easy insurance against detonation.
