I think shortening the gearstick is ugly.
And it does take a serious amount of force to get my transmission from first into second gear quickly. Partly because first is 3.65 and 2nd is 1.95 and the other reason is because the 2nd gear syncros are getting worn.
I have broken the shifter remote once, it is cast iron and I missed third gear. The transmission is equipped with governors that prevent the gears from being selected if the car is going to fast for that gear.

I have a good Non-Generic (Can't Remeber Brand) and bought a 14.00 Ebay one for my buddy's car. The sizes are identical (both integra dual bends shifters in Civics). The Car has seen about 6 months with it in and losts of rammed gears. No breaks.

I have had a $16 egay shifter (8 for shifter and 8 for shipping ;D) for about a year and no complaints here. My friend has had an egay one for about 3 years and it finally snapped right where the threads begin. Not bad for less than 20 bucks, but a pain in the ass to drill out and retap the shifter.

Thanks for the input everyone! I said ---- it and went all out and got the B&M race shifter. I won't miss the extra money a year from now and I'll be happier knowing I bought a quality product and not have to worry about ---- breaking. I'll just waste less money on food and beer for a little to make up the cost difference. 8)

I had the pacesetter adjustable shortshifter. It looks as tall as the stock one but with the ball thing adjusted all the way to the top (shortest setting) It felt really nice/notchy. Its been on the car for 4 years when i bought the car and i had it for 5 years so total of 9 years without any problem. The threaded part snapped right underneth the shift knob a few weeks before i sold the car tho. :1

Alot, $134.95 from summit racing. Its not just the stick though like 99% of the shifters on the market. It also comes with a CNC machined aluminum pivot housing and a spherical bearing which replaces the stock shift lever ball seat, dust seal, and change ball holder.
