What are some cool things this ---- can do. I tried to hack it but failed. What other bullshit options does this 600 dollar over priced phone do.

engadget.com had a link to a guide on hacking the iphone for file transfers and ---- a few days ago.

Overpriced? Yeah. A couple articles have said apple's cost to make them is about half of what they sell them for.

It looks clean and the interface looks nice, but still isnt worth the money in my opinion. I'll stick with my windows mobile 6 tmobile wing and 2gb of memory for a total cost of $200. As much as I use the phone for listening to music (once every couple months?) I don't need 4-8gb of space. The wing is touchscreen, with a physical keyboard (I've heard the apple keyboard sucks), plenty of software support (runs windows), and has way more features.

Doesn't look as cool but for 1/3 the price i couldn't give a ----.

i was going to buy one on the secong but after using a friends i was just too damn lost to even try. i paid 200 for the cingular blackjack and im loving it. surfing hmt on the phone has never been easier with it. physical keyboard rocks. and i love windows on it. bought a 2g memory card and i have a shitload of songs. got the blue tooth headhones too.

::) Yeah, because these things have been selling like hotcakes, so obviously it's going to ruin Apple. The people who have to have it right now don't give a ---- about the price. These phones have some serious appeal even to people who beforehand probably didn't give a ---- about a cell phone. I spent a lot of time using the iPhone recently, and it's a great device. The screen is large and has good brightness and contrast, the touch interface works very well, the keyboard is fine after a slight learning period, and the battery life is excellent. It's a bitch cleaning the smudges off the screen, though.

chris is right, of course any overhyped product is going to sell like hotcake and raise stocks for the first few months, thats obvious. the hurt comes when people realise it's not a solid product and apple has grossly over projected stock value and then it drops off sharply.

It will do fine simply because it is an Apple product. The iPod is not a very solid product for the price, but how popular have those been since they came out? With the iPhone, I think it is mainly people associate Apple with cool technology, so they pay the extra $ for it.

it's not about the initial sale guys, or if they will sell or not, its the hype and over projection to get stocks up from apple and the lack of ability to move the product at the over projection. why do you think they've release like 7 different ipods + the nano? quarterly earnings.

sorta like sony i would say, with the PS3. ----, just recently it took a 100 buck price cut to just try and sell. id get one for blue-ray, but theres not many games i like for it right now. plus it can be turned into a Linux box, which would probably make it 6 times as fun and useful to me :P

I personally like the phone.....but if you go on Cingular's website, they offer NO insurance for the phone. So, if you break it you're fucked out of $400-$600. And you don't even get it activated through Cingular....you have to go on I-tunes to get your phone turned on once you have bought it. Cingular is just a pawn that sells the phone they do nothing for you once you have it, and will not cover any warranty work or if it breaks.

cingular wireless bought at&t wireless a while back, and now the main company at&t bought sbc (southern bell company, owner of cingular) and owns cingular, so it's at&t again...

Overall the phone is nice. Hopefully they'll come out with some good hacks for it to put games, ringtones and a bunch of other bullshit on it. Its just a matter of time before things are worked out and it really becomes usefull. Although the price of the phone could build you a complete HMT setup. Or maybe buy a crx.

You paid 600 bucks for a 2g phone. as far as I know 2gs are teh phones they give you for free that wont do tri band operation ., meaning they took an ipod and attachted the equivalent of a rotoary phone to the side. You cant change the battery on them and you have to hack the phone to install software to it because by design it dosent want to take 3rd party apps. I dunno man but hey thats what MTV told you to buy aint it?
