i work for sprint/nextel fixing phones...problem is that if its a newer phone, the microphones are attached to the main board. we can't replace them if there is any damage inside

just call the insurance company and tell them the new phone isnt working send back the old phone get another new phone

as long as the sticker inside the phone behind the battery is still white and theres no damage ur good to go

they use serialized tracking...

if you make a claim on a phone, they ask for that one back...or they will charge you. if he tells them that he found the old phone, they will want it back. it is permanently on the lost/stolen list now, and can't be re-activated once deactivated....im guessing he didn't call up and suspend service for a lost phone?

The part in the LG phones is replaceable. If I still worked there I could actually grab one for you, but I don't...so sorry. It's easy to replace, it's just a small round or square speaker with two wires running off it. if you can solder you can replace it easy.

Try calling LG Electronics customer service and seeing if you could just order the "speaker" for the Chocolate phone. I know we ship parts to individuals, but it's usually the easy stuff like battery covers and antennas...you could try though. Then just google around for a service manual and it'll show how to disassemble the phone.

BTW, chocolates do suck...and I hate the "touch sensitive" keypad.
