Anybody ever coach kids football?
I figured I'd volunteer to help coach tackle football, I got hit with a whole team, figuring it won't be that hard I said, "what the hey, sure I'll do it".
Now it doesn't seem that easy. If anyone knows where I can get silly things like cones (real cheap/free) or anything to run a practice? No I don't wear those gay *** shorts and carry a whistle. :P
I'v already hit up the local Play it again sports stores.

I coached kids soccer before...
You definitely are going to want that whistle. Get some practice workouts set out beforehand. I always had them jog a lap, and if they complained, they jogged two. If they were whining about anything I'd have them jog laps until I felt they were ready to go back in or they apologized.
You got an AC? If not try to get one. Also as far as cones, they're not real expensive. The little guys are usually like a buck each or whatnot.
What age range?

I have a couple of complainers, I'll try the positive reinforcement technique(laps) to improve their attitudes.
What's an AC?
I have 9-10 year olds 23 kids. we just got helmet and shoulder pads yesterday, I've been told that when the hitting starts I'll lose a couple.

Atleast if the complainers don't want to shut up, they get tired and don't talk as much haha
AC = assistant coach... helps to have another hand around
9-10 year olds, perfect. No problem with making them run laps then hahaha. I know that they quit after being hit, my gf's nephew was in football for a while until he got tackled by a kid twice his size and never wanted to play again, so he plays baseball :P
GL btw.

Thanks sinister,
some of the parents are willing to help out at practice, which will be good. the twins are going to be my "team clowns".
weights range from 100-135lbs the league cutoff is 140lbs and anyone over 120 has to be a lineman.

Re: Anybody ever coach kids football?
i've never coached football or a group this young(well i have helped at a baseball clinic that had kids this age and younger), but i do coach high school baseball....but all i know is that with the 9-10 year old group keep it basic and fun...also teach them how to tackle the right way...when i played in high school we had a saying "knees bent, back straight, head up"...preach that to tackle someone you need to be able to see them
so what kind of offence and deffence you plan on running? if you break down wha tyou want to do and know how you want to do it, this could be fun for you
