Any of you fags like Skylines?
 

A friend just traded an '04 Accord and some skrill for a '99 GTT with 16,000 km on it. Florida titled, getting it transfered over to NC now. Kinda sad to see how the importer (bought it for himself) and his riceboy employees tried to completely ruin the poor car before breaking down and selling it to my friend.

I mean, right around 8000 *miles* and it has minor dents from the company that shipped the car letting it smack against the shipping crate, that the importer hit with *krylon*. The door panels have had ------- sheet metal screws drilled into them to install some cheapass tweeters, wtf? Front bumper has been replaced with only the cheapest available fiberglass mis-fitting "GTR style" eGay bumper cover. The engine was pulled out (for no obvious reason??) and half the accessory drive pulleys have dents in them from the monkeys banging the engine into ----, and one of the *cam gears* is cracked.

I was prepared to hate on this thing, but it's really pretty nice. There aren't a lot of stupid bells and whistles, the gauges are tasteful and minimalistic, the seats nicely fit non-fat American ass... they aren't the tight JDM ass size of the Miata seats, or the bloated seats found in most US-oriented "performance" import seats. The car has some size to it, and is RWD, so after some suspension work and the GT35/40R that *was* going to go on the Sentra it should be pretty badass.

Only problem is, when it was being towed home Friday night, the riceboys on the local cruise strip were running out in the road trying to block the towtruck so they could look at it, and 8-10 carloads of guys followed it for a couple miles until they pulled over in a gas station to let the fools look, and tell them they don't need to know where the car resides. It's going to be a huge theft-magnet. :-\

Guy in the black shirt is the car owner. If the phone had a fisheye effect, I could get his black 70.5 split bumper Camaro in the pic, too. The joke is the Skyline is the good twin, and the Camaro the bad twin.

i heart skylines. I think the RB26DETT is such a unique sounding engine, they are real nice

It seems like alot of imported cars come in through FL. What comes in those? A RB25DET? So did the car come with an engine in it when it was shipped or they just took it out for the ---- of it? I know sometime they pull the engines in complete cars when they ship them so they can get them into the US.

I think after fixing those few little things it could come out fresh and clean JD. See if Frank can snatch some of those parts for you, I know he posted a pic the other day of a wrecked GT-R at the junkyard.

I have two guys in columbus own them. one has an R33 and another has an R34. both really fast. I love skylines too

I see this a lot, its it easier to regester in FL and then to another state? Or are these cars just coming from a country near FL?

Someone in my town has a R32, not bad but everyone makes a bigger deal than it realy is.

I thought they were bloated hypewagons, but it's utilitarian design speaks louder than e-hype. This has neo-rb25det, means vvt equipped, decent engine. I'm prepared to like rwd better than awd anyway... imo awd does not handle better.

Skylines are sex. Some local shop owner brought one he bought off ebay to a car show at the track last summer, but he wouldn't run it because he somehow lost the tune off his SAFC? He was a dick, thought he was better than everyone else. made me want to steal his car. :l

im all about skylines. If you have the money of coarse. Everything for turbo nissans is crazy expensive. especially if you have an rb. I've seen one r33, after hot import nights in atlantic city, there were massive amounts of awesome cars that went to the philly street races. ---- was gorgeous, even at night.

i think an RB sounds like a 2jz, but thats just my opinion. Maybe a little higher pitched

i used to want one, this site has them for cheap.
i still want one, but after reading all the import laws, i knew it was a way outta my price range right now.

skylines are the only JDM cars that have crash tests on file, so those are the only ones you can import, but you have to give the govment a deposit of 120% of the cars cost, which you get back after you have an authorized dealer convert to LHD. thats bunk ----. :3

oh ya, i e-mailed them back in the day- $900 shipped to your choice of 10 US sea ports.

Since the only way to import them is to bring them in as parts, which could technically be done for any car...

I love how there is 75 different people saying 200 different ways you can only import a car. :1 Some say they have to come in pieces, some say they have to be converted to LHD or you have to pay a huge deposit, some say they can be shipped on over since they have crash tests. :S

there are a few different ways to get them in legally. then there are the illegal ways to get them in and then grease the wheel to get them registered legally.

i have seen about 50 skyline motors in the last couple years seems my freind is a nissan swap master. he owns a true sylvia. but skylines i have only seen about 3 on the roads and like 10 at shows.

I thought about getting a Skyline when I have a steady paced income but Im thinking the toyota supra is more practical. In terms of not importing it, having parts available and a bunch of other issues. Anyways , have fun wth that man. Skyline is my dream car. :'(

Skylines are def cool. R32's are becoming dime a dozen here in Canada as they only require a out of state inspection to bring one in and they are nice car for the money.The R34 is what i want and i have to wait 7 more years before there legal here :'(

alot of cars come through florida because down here you can do what the ---- you want. they dont enforce ---- down here.

That is because so many people like to spout ---- they know nothing about, or are trying to scam someone with more money then sense who is trying to buy a grey market car. But like someone said, in Florida you can get away with alot. The semi easy way, which is what companies like Evolution Imports in Orlando do, is to send the car to the carribian islands, take the drivetrain & doors off the car, and send the drivetrain in one container, the car in the other; declaring both as parts. Then you outsource someone to put the car back togethor for you, and have a state inspector verify that the car has 4 wheels, seats, and a steering wheel and you can go register it, and pay lots of taxes. After that you can try and transfer the title to a different state. If you wanna hate, or say this is BS, just call EI, their number is listed here; www.evolutionimports.com and ask for Frank; I'm pretty sure the charge for this service is about $10,500.

The main reason I tried to learn all of this is I bought my dad a Toyota Soarer while he was in Pakistan since they are RHD colony, and the car was $3,500 shipped to Islamabad; and he was wondering if it would be possible to send the car here. But, after finding out importing the car would cost 3x the value paid he will probably just sell it locally.
