Any Vonage users?

We have Vonage and the router (Motorola VT2442) has to be reset about every 10-30 min for it to work. It's starting to get really annoying, and the retarded foreigners they have working their customer service just run you around in circles doing crap that has nothing to do with the problem.

Anyone else having issues?

Get comcast CDV. Seriously, vonage sucks compared to CDV. Calls I get from CDV, I can't tell they're using VOIP. Calls from Vonage, I can. The vonage routers suck too.

Comcast CDV works better because it has it's own frequency on the cable for sending data through, and only travels on Comcasts private network (until it gets sent to the phone network). Vonage just uses regular TCP/IP crap, packets are lost or don't arrive when they should, latency issues, etc. You'll get a EMTA that is wired into your homes phone lines, so you can use a regular phone, and the EMTA has an ethernet port to go out to your router. Also, has a built in battery backup, so if power is off you can still use the phone (or internet) for up to 8 hours.

I don't think it's available here. Go ahead and check 35633

Didn't think of that. No its not available yet but they've been doing a shitton of rewiring for the "CDV certification" so they can release it there. Shouldn't be too long.

I'm thinking about snatching a router to put before the vonage router. I could careless about the phones connection I don't use the normal phone anyways.

i agree with this .....but the battery backup doesn't do ---- for your internet....just your phones....i install 5 to 6 emta's a day....it works good.....really like the rca ones over the arris

Ah yeah, that was based on what I heard around here, not from personal experience. I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't live in a comcast area, so I don't get to take advantage of the free everything. Haven't got to try any of the stuff myself, but I know the people I've talked to using CDV were very clear and the vonage ones were choppy.
