Re: any of u **** that live in wilmington/jacksonville...what do u do on the wee
When I was there they were really ------- nice. Everyone was bright, a little down on experience because they were early 20-somethings, but Taylor (the one I talked to the most) displayed a working mind and had figured out a few interesting factoids that made me think he'd be just fine with whatever was thrown at him.
I was very much not impressed by their dyno, the loading function didn't work correctly and the unit kept locking up and needing to be power cycled - it's a Dynojet, no surprise - but they were planning on replacing it with a Superflo. I'd sue Dynojet if they had stuck me with that piece of ---- (there are precedents of people doing so and winning with that particular model) but they were pretty Zen about it, which was a good demonstration of their temperment, IMO.
If you want a city full of stooges, try Knoxville sometimes. Dave at OTT is an excellent wrench and fabricator, but the local dyno guy is scary ignorant and the second hand results of the other shops I've seen there was freakshow quality work. PhilStubbs made a comment about the sub-300 whp sleeved motor crew where he was from, it's about like that as everyone has a dumptruck full of money with which to buy only the finest in misconfigured high end parts so they net no gain and often a loss in power. I was the third person to go through the AEM on one dude's S2000, apparently the only one who ever made it idle or live through three dyno passes. And this was acceptable

Re: any of u **** that live in wilmington/jacksonville...what do u do on the weekend
there are several shops around here ive seen that are slightly down on expirence for the price they charge and they way they talk. the ones ive seen are mostly in jacksonville. lots of kids with a get rich quick mindset because of the marines and their ingorant quest for speed. is national speed that place right down from independance mall and right accross the street from granger? out cruisin around one day i drove past a shop and seen a big dynojet banner out front so i assumed that was them. i havnt personaly seen any of their work so i have i cant really comment on their work. i think most of whats happening is people that like to rock different shops banners on their windshields...if it were my shop id be ashamed to have my ---- on some of the cars ive seen...
id like to stop in and speak with some of the people that work at these places but work has kept me from it so far and were about to be bumped up to 50s (overtime!!) so it will be even harder.
i know someones gotta be from down this way on here...

They are the shop whose owner is so rich they did a reality TV show on the place. I don't think it was across from a Granger. When I was there last month it was behind a gas station, adjacent to an indoor firing range, and the signage was tasteful. I don't recall any Dynojet banners outside the dyno room.
It's bankrolled, and a high dollar operation. People in R35s coming in and out, dude with an Aston Martin dropped $10K for a set of rims while I was there or something.
