Welcome to professionally serviced equipment operated by professional pilots.

Bingo. They don't let people fly hoopty ass planes with low oil and a shitty service record. Cars can drive around with JB welded blocks that have never received an oil change, but planes cannot. Also, any retard that can walk into a MVD can legally drive a car that same day. Not so with planes.

Yeah and it's not like they make pilots fly fatigued and there are numerous investigations on pilot drug use and driving under the influence :3

Just as you're about to step off the jetway onto the plane, look at the skin of the plane around the door. You can tell how old the plane is that way, it came from the factory all nice smooth with very few seams in the skin. Older planes have all kinds of patches riveted to it, especially around the door. Just one of those tidbits of info you wished you'd never learned when you step on a plane and see more patches than you have time to count.

Enjoy your flight!

its statistically safer to fly cross country than to walk across the road to get you're mail. Air travel is crazy safe, I work for an aircraft completion/service center and the accuracy and tolerances we have to make repairs are ridiculous. When jets crash you hear about it because it usually is a freak accident, in the U.S. anyway, some countries are alot less stringent on their policies. But if something was designed by humans, built by humans, or operated by humans there will be an accident. An Aloha airlines 737 had a 10 seat section of the roof rip off in flight sucking out a flight attendant. Alot of commercial jets are 25+ years old, thats like cruising around in a 1982 chevy citation, just that maintenance is so strict and these things are soooooooo expensive, they can last that long.
