Yea, pretty much what he said. I think I am going to keep this hatch for myself, for a while anyway. But my business partner and I are currently looking at an 03 Civic EX 5 spd. It is hit in the right front, but really isn't that bad. We are thinking we can probably make around $4k on turning that car over.

Yea, the passenger side air bag is BIG. Now you can see why they take out the windshield 90% of the time. The driver side had a nice circle stitched into it...the face plant section, lol. I had already cut it out before pictures were taken.

When you get it inspected, will they care that there's no airbags?

After a vehicle has been sconsidered a total loss, it is issued a salvage title. With a salvage title, it is not eligible for registration anymore. However, if you decide to "rebuild" the vehicle for road use again, you have to go through an inspection with the state highway patrol.

No, they will not care that there are no airbags in the vehicle. There is no law stating that a "supplemental restraint system" has to be replaced once it has been deployed due to a reported accident. At least in Ohio anyway. The inspection is not actually to determine the road worthiness of a rebuilt vehicle....it is to determine if it was rebuilt legitamately using parts that were not stolen. You must take receipts with you for all major replacement parts. Any parts that were purchased through "casual sale" must have a notorized receipt and you must provide the VIN number of the vehicle that they were removed from. Items that have a fair market value of less than $100 are not scrutinized as much.

With this particular car, I had to buy a new core support and a new bumper cover which I purchased directly from Honda at a cost of $308. I bought the headlights and an EX gauge cluster from a friend for $80. I bought a new O2 sensor from Autozone for $72 along with a new radiator for $90. So the only things I really need to provide receipts for are the bumper and core support. But I am taking receipts for everything just to be safe.

I really like EG's too, but in this case I chose to sell my EG in order to have a car that was in better shape. I think the EG's have more style, I like the smaller headlights and the overall shape of the car better. Although with a few minor cosmetic touches, like a front and rear lip and some lowering, I think the EK will look pretty good. We'll see, they are not that many of them around my area, so selling it would be easy cause everybody wants to be "different"

Based on the look of things, I consider that money well spent. Good luck with the inspection.
