I think a policy of strict construction should be put in place. I think the government has overstepped itself and the constitution in many ways (the war in Iraq, financial bailouts, industry regulation, taxes etc). I think industrial regulation is a big problem and is part of the reason why the auto industry is in a bind. The government puts a lot of standards in place that make manufacturing cars, more or less anything, less profitable. The government needs to stop sponsoring loans for housing, businesses etc... That's a job for banks and private investors. That's how a free market works. The government shouldn't be part of that market. I have said, more government control is not the answer, and more government spending is not the answer. America is not as free as we once were. We are strangled everyday by the federal government. |
