another hooptie pics
as ya'll did not know I blew the motor in my daily driver the 98 audi a4. thrown rod hauling ass.
anyways I was driving my civic which is my project car since then taday I picked up a hooptie for $100 . 1991 vw scirrocco bad clutch or transmission. the guy was junking it so I paid him $100, normally he will have to pay $65 to junk it, but the car runs good, and looks good. so I gave him $100. it was an offer he would be stupid to refuse, since he made $100 intsead of paying $65 to get rid of it. so if it don't work out I will have to pay $65 to junk it. I like the car, and I plan to keep it. 4 |

Re: another hooptie
I think ya'll will like it whenever I get the pics up. I might boost that ----, but its my daily so I might keep it stock or swap a g60 motor in it.

Re: another hooptie
does it snow scirroccos in germany too?
|
Re: another hooptie
Only in south west Germany. In the south east it rains Astras.
|
Re: another hooptie
if you ever need a radiator for it, let me know, I have a brand new one that I was going to use in a water/air IC setup

I will take some pics soon, the body is in excellent shape.
there are ton loads of golfs, and other vw's here, but the scirocco is not that popular, they are rare, but they share the same motors as the old school golfs. this one needs a clutch and I paid $200 for it. will do a complete tune up and restoration of it and keep it. only find one small rust spot on it. |

Re: another hooptie pics
I'd gladly rail your wife in exchange for that car, sir. :)

Re: another hooptie pics
you can have the wife, but I am keeping the car.

Re: another hooptie pics
parts are really cheap for these cars. repalcement tranny $84, new clutch kit from ebay, 55 euros, timing belt kit 10 euros. I am not sure if the tranny is messed up, but from the noise of the clutch its probably damaged. still goes into gear and drives, just loud as hell.

Re: another hooptie pics
if you enjoy driving that thing....put a good suspension on it. One of my buddy's from Virginia has an 88 'Rocco with Bilstein shocks and H&R springs. Its wonderful. And it rides beautifully. Handles better than ANY honda I've ever been in.
I likes eeet :6 |
Re: another hooptie pics
i hate you... i would pay good money for a rocco in that shape. you could probably make a mint by shipping stuff over here to guys on the vortex.
|
Re: another hooptie pics
thats because its Germany man. they are religious about keeping their cars clean.

FYI, Bilsteins HDs (which your VW buddy has, as they are what is paired with the H&R kit) are equivalent to Koni Yellows for a LOT less. Further, Bilstein will sell you all the parts you need to rebuild/revalve your shocks |
Re: another hooptie pics
ya...i've only ridden in shitty suspension setups i won't lie. I guess i just don't know any ballers....
I vote VR6 turbo'd for this "hoopty" as u call it. its a beautiful hoopty tho |

one good thing they usually shares the same motors even in the newer ones, so finding a replacement motor is not hard, and cheap. as far as suspension goes, I am a newbie with vw's but I have a friend who is a mechanic at a vw dealer, he is helping me get the parts I need to get it back up. I actually drove the car home yesterday from 12miles away. |
Re: another hooptie pics
best deal ive seen in a long time, only 100 bucks cant go wrong there
|
Re: another hooptie pics
If you aren't building it, just cruising/pimping it, that mechanical fuel injection isn't too bad. All you need is a fuel pressure gauge and the Bosch EFI handbook and it's fifteen minutes to figure out anything.

Re: another hooptie pics
I finally got it back on the streets. I installed a vw golf transmission, and axles , tranny and axles were free. parts to repair them was axle booth set 35 euros. release bearing kit 45 euros. I paid a total of $300 for this car. changed the oil,and filter . planned to do the timing belt, and all seals.
question is will weitec lowering springs for a audi a4 fit the scirocco? I have a set from when I owned the a4 |

Re: another hooptie pics
I have no idea what that is, I am new to the vw scene. I owned a 98 audi a for 5 years piece of ---- I junked it. I can find oem parts for cheap here though.
I have a brand new clutch for sale let it go for $100 if you know someone who needs one. it will fit golfs, audi, seat passat, jetta . etc older modls of course |
