I realize I am play devils advocate here (so don't think I am trying to put your fire out), but here's my pitch for 321 stainless.

18-20 Gauge T321 stainless is your best bet.

1. It will resist corrosion.
2. Readily available bends, mandrel type stuff.
3. Easy to weld in comparison to aluminum unless your a wiz welder
4. The last point is theory, but, where 321 stainless is staying strong in the high temps, aluminum would start to be getting soft right? At least I would think so...

Lastly, if your going to do this for realz, let us know how it turns out!

im not denouncing free thought herer or shunning creativity i just think the time and effort can be better spent on something with some more importance than shaving a couple ounces on an exhaust... which if im not correct was his main reason for using aluminum

if he really wants to save weight theres much easier and practical ways of doing soo agian just my 2 cents

the question is what kind of car would he be doing it for. N/A or turbo. I think thats a little more important because of the exhaust temp difference.

also if he wants to do it then let him. as previously stated if he has the resources and time let him go apeshit.
