Almost Stolen - Round two
So my neighbors wake me this morning making me aware of the attempted theft of my car. The thieves drove off and my friends copied thier license plate number. I called 911 and 3 undercover police officers show up in about 2 mins. They ran the plate and took my statement. This is the second time this has happened. Im getting paranoid. You guys have any suggestions what else I can do to keep my car? First Im gonna go buy something from the bakery to show my neighbor's concern and awareness that they are appreciated.

a buddy of mines teg had all that ---- done and the thieves got into the car saw all that and left... of course he wanted it stolen because he hated it so he left it open without a club or clutchlock and the ecu in the trunk and a week later it was gone |

Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
use a big fat club that is made for SUVs.
install an alarm, pull ecu my freind use to wire up a kill switch that will burn off the PGMFI relay if it ever power up with the switch on. IMO that`s way better then anythign other kil swtich, once the relay is gone they can only tow it. |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
Not advertising injector size and MAP sensor selection on internet forums makes removing your ECU more effective. They can't roll up with another ECU and a basemap worth a piss.

Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
def get some kind of alarm and always pull the ecu
i left mine in one night down here in philly, i go out on saturday and the fucker is gone |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
fuel pump shut off is one of the best other than a clutch lock. also its kinda ricey but get a push buton start so you can relocate the acutal key whole so they cant find it to break it
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
The club does nothing they will just cut a slit in the steering wheel to get the club out
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
Plug wires? And a switch to do with the starter?

Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
i have my alarm, factory alarm, and i pull my ostrich out since it is easier to take then the whole ecu and i can put it in my pocket when i go in a store.
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
if they want it bad enough they'll get it one way or another
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
Just pull the motor :)
I keep my car pulled all the way to the front of my driveway with the wheels turned all the way to one side and the steering wheel locked. Usually there is a car parked behind it. Of course then you've got all the regular kill switches and alarms and what not. Another good idea is to mount an alarm inside your car. |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
I got a 2-way alarm for sale actually :P 200 + shipping. Its a audiovox comes with 1 pager and 1 4 button remote

Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
The thing is, you can't EVER stop your car from being stolen completely.
Things that don't work.... The club, the steering wheel can be broken with vice grips in about 10 minutes The stock steering lock....Honda decided they were going to hang the lock over the edge of the column by a few inches and then use shear bolts to secure it :S A big bar through the wheel, pry down and it breaks, great idea. :l The clutch lock, I can drive a car without the clutch, it's a BITCH when you have to stop, but after first gear, revmatching does the trick The brake lock, you can just use the ebrake to limp it. I used to pull relays and fuses, unless the theif REALLY knows their ---- they probably won't figure it out. If you pull the fuel pump relay then it'll just turn over and they may think it's broken, you could disconnect the injector plugs, but leave them loosely on top of the injectors, they probably won't notice it. Take the rotor out of the distributor if you have one (take like 3 seconds). Like I said, if they're pros, they'll get it with a towtruck, I've also heard of people breaking into the other car boxing in the vehicle they wanted because chances are that other car is probably just a stock POS with no alarm, even if the wheel is locked, all you have to do is take off the ebrake and roll it back far enough to back the other car out. |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
There is one sure fire way to not get your car stolen.
Move out of the damn city. If you live an a fairly rural area like me people don't mess with your stuff. That is unless somebody really has a hard on for you. If theft is really that big of a problem where you guys live then you should be taking lots of precautions. Chances are nobody is going to want your honda bad enough to pull it out from between two cars, break into it to take the e-brake off and the steering lock. Has everybody forgotten that tow-trucks are loud as ----? There's no way in hell I'd sleep through that ----. I know if I heard one in my driveway late at night I'd hit the ground running and come out shooting. |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
at an apartment my 90 hatch was stolen by a tow truck, i had a 2 way alarm (compustar), it went off, i ran to the balcony, seen the tow truck hookin my ---- up fast as hell, yelled back into the apartment bailed off the 2nd floor chased him he was already draggin my ---- away fast alarm going off. when i got close.
so ya block that ---- and get a 2-way. not sure if they were false alarms or not but a few times i've had my pager go off a few times in (my coupe ) and i come creepin out the house with a bat and no one is there.. . |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two

The shear bolts in a stock steering lock take three minutes to undo with a pair of pliers, if you are fumbling around in the dark. I've yet to see the prybar technique work. |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
1. alarm 2. gun when 1 goes off use 2 ;D
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
I just paid $75 bucks for a Prestige Alarm. Im gonna install it myself. Those were some pretty good ideas. Im gonna use most of them. BTW the baby monitor was a good one! I would like to see if I can capture the images to record the face of the soon to be victim. :y
But now Im gonna go and pick up something good from my local bakery to give to my neighbors to show my appreciation for holdin it down. ;) |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
There are a number of el cheapo but decent cameras and DVI cards on eGay (well, some of the el cheapo DVI cards can suck, ask around before buying). You can aim them at the car, set them to record when motion is detected. Usually the person who goes for your car KNOWs you, and vice versa.
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
I would aim the camera as close to eye level as I could, not like the 7Eleven stores where all you can view is the person's scalp. DVI? :1 I gotta do some research.
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
A number of them are 12v powered, and you can equip your car with NIR (near IR) LEDs in the dome and dash... invisible to the naked eye, come on for a couple minutes if the door or suchlike is opened, record old boy's face in all it's glory.
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
rig up an explosive device and an audio playback that tells them if they attempt to open the doors to get out, or drive the car it will explode. and then bust their asses.

i live right outside of fort hood, and there are almost the same amount of cops as civilians here, so there really isn't much car theft going on here. last week we had 43 windows broken out. someone found out about the spark plug porclean and windsheild trick. lol they are in deep ---- if they are cuaght. |
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
When my car is armed and there is ignition power a relay cuts the ecu power wire. and my alarm is hidden very well, i spent 8 hrs installing it and i install this ---- for a living.
|
Re: Almost Stolen - Round two
yea when i installed my new alarm, i left my old one in- in a very easily accessed spot.
some theif will get happy when they think their yanking it.. only to hear the siren still going off and there's no power to the car at all, lol |
