Well, I need a new steering rack on the 95 civic cx hatch. I figure that it would be easier to replace it with a manual rack instead of running a power steering rack but not having power steering setup in the car. Does anyone see any flaws in my theory? I know it may be a dumb question, but I'm serious, there may be something that I'm not thinking of.

 

it will work fine, just need a manual rack.

what happened to your current one?

 

The pass. side boot is trashed. The ricer that I bought the car from hopped a curb at 70 while "drifting" last winter and fucked the pass side suspension and the steering rack.

 

Unless it's leaking or the rack gear got bent, you could just replace the boot and you should be OK. The tie rod itself is replaceable if it got bent in the accident.
