89 integra w/d15z1
 

i could get an 89 integra shell for 150 and i want an economy car. its got a little rust but.... eh ive driven shitty looking cars before

i was thinking about attempting to build my own electric vehicle with this shell but thats going to cost more than im ready to spend right now. so,on the other hand i can find a d15z1 semi complete swap locally for 200ish if im lucky. its the best economy motor honda makes for cars, imean the civic vx gets almost 60 mpg on the highway.

the electric conversion would cost over 2 grand. but i would save money in the long run for sure.

well the teg weighs 300ish more pounds than a vx.how much of a difference would the gas mileage be? i dunno if this is even a good idea :P

you gonna have to get creatitive with



the fact that you have to find a way to mount a int shaft to the d15 block



mounts are totally differnt/axles/wiring/ecu/




nothing will bolt into that car except another d16a1 block or a 1st gen brown valve dohc zc

electricity comes from burning fuel, usually unless you're talking geothermal/hydro electric/wind. Its going to take more fuel to power a vehicle when you burn it, turn it into electricity then use it to power an automobile. Not to mention the fact that you have a ---- load of batteries in the car creating resistance to pushing the car forward and heavy electric motors. Hybrid cars are fine because they recharge them selfs when the car is decelerating or idling, whenever the car is basically just waisting energy. Pure electric cars are pretty much useless unless you're powering it off of a nuclear reactor.

Actually, rawr, hybrid cars are even more useless than pure electric. All those Prius faggots get nose in the air about hwo they are "more concerned about the environment" when their piles of ---- never take into account pollution costs at the power plant, environmental hazards from metal hydride battery replacement, etc. In truth, there isn't a hybrid gas-electric vehicle out there that is more efficient than my D15B7 beater.

what kind of mileage you get with the b7 jd? did you have to order that engine or is it usdm?

FTW! I use to get around 35 mpg in my old 91 Si hatch with A6 (All city driving). I need to see how much I'm getting in the Slo with D15, I know it's better than what I was getting with my hatch.

I get 40 mpg out of a D15B7 in an 89 DX *with the AC off*. Mileage plummets to 30 mpg with the AC on, I think the system is old and crappy and the compressor is getting inefficient. I normally wouldn't expect less than 34-35 with AC on.
