89 integra w/d15z1
i could get an 89 integra shell for 150 and i want an economy car. its got a little rust but.... eh ive driven shitty looking cars before
i was thinking about attempting to build my own electric vehicle with this shell but thats going to cost more than im ready to spend right now. so,on the other hand i can find a d15z1 semi complete swap locally for 200ish if im lucky. its the best economy motor honda makes for cars, imean the civic vx gets almost 60 mpg on the highway. the electric conversion would cost over 2 grand. but i would save money in the long run for sure. well the teg weighs 300ish more pounds than a vx.how much of a difference would the gas mileage be? i dunno if this is even a good idea :P any input? |
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
you gonna have to get creatitive with
the fact that you have to find a way to mount a int shaft to the d15 block mounts are totally differnt/axles/wiring/ecu/ nothing will bolt into that car except another d16a1 block or a 1st gen brown valve dohc zc |
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
yeah i figured it wasnt a good idea. but hey, i just needed someone to say that to me
and yeah i dunno why im infatuated with skipping a line. i thought it just made things easier to read :P :y :6 :7 |
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
entropy > electric vehicles

Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
lol. entropy vehicles? wtf is that? oh btw, maybe a 92-95 coupe would be a better idea for a swap?

Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
electricity comes from burning fuel, usually unless you're talking geothermal/hydro electric/wind. Its going to take more fuel to power a vehicle when you burn it, turn it into electricity then use it to power an automobile. Not to mention the fact that you have a ---- load of batteries in the car creating resistance to pushing the car forward and heavy electric motors. Hybrid cars are fine because they recharge them selfs when the car is decelerating or idling, whenever the car is basically just waisting energy. Pure electric cars are pretty much useless unless you're powering it off of a nuclear reactor.

what kind of mileage you get with the b7 jd? did you have to order that engine or is it usdm?

Actually, rawr, hybrid cars are even more useless than pure electric. All those Prius faggots get nose in the air about hwo they are "more concerned about the environment" when their piles of ---- never take into account pollution costs at the power plant, environmental hazards from metal hydride battery replacement, etc. In truth, there isn't a hybrid gas-electric vehicle out there that is more efficient than my D15B7 beater. |
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
I get 40 mpg out of a D15B7 in an 89 DX *with the AC off*. Mileage plummets to 30 mpg with the AC on, I think the system is old and crappy and the compressor is getting inefficient. I normally wouldn't expect less than 34-35 with AC on.
|
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
I wouldn't know about AC lol Mine doesn't work. I can hear it click on and the RPM's drop at idle when I turn it on, but just blows out the same temp air as just the fan.

Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
well finding a 92-95 civc locally is too costly. i can also get an 88-91 civic hb from the same friend for cheap. problem is finding a damn vx swap. you would think that it would be easy because lots of ppl buy vx's to swap bigger engines into. these things should just be lying around in everyones garage for all the friggin hatchbacks i see around here. anyway... what about the 88-91 civic hb. it comes with a d15 in it so the vx swap should slide right in right? and ofcourse itll need
quite a few new wires added for all the extra electronic goodies on the engine. no big ive done it before |
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
Find an 88 crx hf and drop that swap in. Ungodly mpg FTW.
I'd go for the 88-91 hatch in that case. This post has me thinking about doing this swap after summer into my civic, taking the z6 out to build for another chassis so I can have a nice mpg beast... |
Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
pretty much any d15 is gonna give you 30+mpg. ----, my d15b2 gets 32+ in my sedan. considering it burns a quart of oil between oil changes, and it leaks coolant. this motor is gonna go tits on me before i can get my swap in. :3

Re: 89 integra w/d15z1
Old hf crx with stock motor was getting high 40's mpg
Or my 4 spd std also was in that same range when it was stock with my zc in my crx I was still in the high 30's |
