7psi is pretty bad, 10 ought to be fun... 56K maybe
So I got thru all my stupid issues, car runs very well now. Definitely 13's capable on 10psi, 7psi right now is fairly quick, way better than that old d15b+greddy setup i started with.
Picked up a 14b with no play, solved the electrical issues, and tested her out today. the 14b gate holds rock at 7psi, when i get to tuning ill go for 10psi.
For now I still can't get my laptop working, only thing I havent replaced is the RAM, so I guess thats next.
For whatever reason the internal gate flapper isnt completely closed out of boost, I shimmed one of the mount bolts to try to pull it back a bit, and its quieter, but still open, gonna try to shim the other one and see if it helps.
is this common for them to be part open like that? I would think it'd cause some lag, and I tried two different actuators both from 14b's...same result.
with the o2 sensor not grounding out anymore, it doesnt pop and ---- anymore either, so thats good. also no cel's or flickering, all is well. Next is figure out the laptop issue and get that wideband on there. no ripping til its on wideband and i know its not lean or anything bad like that.
anyone in the portland area wanna bring out the laptop with a serial port for me?
anyways...here's the good stuff. Hope its not a skittles car like the last one there Stevemode.
d16z6, fresh bottom end, 210psi comp across all 4, stock head
14b + HF
2.5" charge piping and downpipe all HMT'ed
JRC 8" FMIC
450cc DSM's
p28/Crome
TunerToys Couplers
Stealthmode Oil Lines
Spearco Boost Gauge
Blitz DD BOV
Zietronix WB
Pics
Here was my problem, see the lower o2 real close to the radiator, on decel it would rub against it and ground out
JRC 8"
Spearco Boost Gauge, bought it cause its blacked faced, hate that white face Autometer I have
Couple whole shots, you can see the piping and Blitz DD. Paint color is Dupli-Color Gunmetal wheel paint, re-used from leftovers when I painted the wheels.
Turbo, mani, DP shots. You can see the trouble I had with the oil lines. The first turbo had a stripped hole (came that way) and so it ate the threads on the fitting, I had to get another fitting that went in deeper to extend it, then sealed it up with some HiTemp Epoxy Putty called PC-Farenheit. Had to do it on the new turbo too cause the first round I chewed up Stevemodes oil fitting.
Now for my emmy award style "I'd like to thank" speech
Big thanks to HMT for learning me good on turberyos. I'd like to thank Big Poppa Murdoc for the resistor box, and Tunertoys for some good steel and nice couplers. Genxperformance for a nice BOV, and Tyrus for the fatty intercooler. Thanks to Dustin for the mint 450's, Crome for having sex with my p28, DJ for the new perfect condition 14b...(This is where you need that "wrap it up box" from the Chappelle show "Yo wrap that ---- up B")...STevemode for the oily lines, 5thgencivic for the MBC....and again to HMT for being there so I didn't buy another gay kit. If I could afford it I'd donate 1000 dollars a year instead of the $30 I tossed in.
