Hotrex, that is the stuff I painted my car with, has hardner and clear mixed in to the acrylic, honestly man might as well do a spray can job, the paint is absolute ----, 2 months after painting the car the paint wouldnt dry completely when exposed to the hot sun, it got so soft duing thie summer that you could put a scratch through it with your finger nail, now before you blame the painter you must remember by dad has been painting cars for years, his equipment is worth more than my car and yet despite the paintjob turning out good it didnt last long since the elements ruin the finish pretty darn fast.

just thought I'd say this, get a good 200$ gallon of paint, some walmart primer and a good clear and do a good job what will last longer than 3 months.

The normal thing to do with dull scratched paint is to polish out as much of the defects as reasonable and add a proper protectant, than continue to maintain the new finish. Better ------- it up on your car than someone else's, I suppose.

no offense to you or your dad. but having exspensive equipment doesnt mean ----.
either it wasnt prepped right or he didnt add enough hardener

If I had used regular primer, i might be thankful of this info, but im very aware of primer' real purpose not being a base and/or final coat ... this is a temporary (winter) paint job and I used high quality Anti-Rust primer (ten fkin bucks a can, coulda got some for 5...) to avoid those problems... i plan on resanding/stripping the contaminated primer next spring and reshooting it with a darker gray and then im slapin a fat clear over it
P.S. any one got a f22 logstyle mani sittin around

Hotrex, your talking about single stage paint i bet. I've used it on my del sol, turned out nice, overall i'll stick to the dual stage color/clear.

its not that hard to spray with primer and do a semi-decent job... single stage paint isnt much harder either

two of my car's that i've primered so they were one color instead of god knows how many

here's some pics of a buddys car i painted with single stage

and btw that paint job was done over 5 months ago and still looks great except for the scratch the dumbass put in it.. was done with a $40 gun, and a air compressor that's on its last legs, outside in less then half a day total

Prep and proper mixing is Key. My dad's Classic was done in a Poly Single Stage and it is tough as nails.

But ya, nothing compares to a Base/Clear Setup.

But back to what you worked with and the reason of the post, That looks nice!!
