I have done lots and lots of searching but everything I find is either a no longer working web page or just not what I'm looking for. I know the 5s is generally larger but at the same time under powered due to that lack of boost. At the same I know the 3s head can go on the 5s block when you drill in the water jackets for the water ports on the 3s head. Anywho,is there a list of stuff rolling around on some unkown webpage or possibly this forum for 5sfe boost does and don'ts ? O0 Thanks in advance

5sfe + turbo = kaboom

if you are serious about a build for a 5s block, you chose it right as it is a cast iron block nad is VERY stout. Build the bottom end with pistons, ESPECIALLY connecting rods, and a crank as well, you will be ok. However then the head tends to start having problems. If your going to turbo it, spend the money and do it right and put a 3s head on there. With the v6 5 spd tranny, you will be looking at some major hp figures.

also the max ive ever seen on a stock 5sfe engine is 200hp with some nice tuning. The head on it really does hold it back alot.

NEGATIVE,

If anything the strongest part on the 5S block is the crank as it takes a hell of alot more of a beating then the motor can put out. As for the head it's actually not as bad as the people say it is,granted, the 5S ihead was designed more conservatively and in "STOCK FORM" will stop making power around 4.5k. The 3SGTE head on the other hand in "STOCK FORM" is good all the way till 7K. If you where to go through the effort of custom regrinds, supra valves, valves springs, and shims, you'd have a nice head.

Il probably do a jihad (G head) swap somtime this summer since i found a decent donor car at a local wreckers, so iI can get the head wiring harness and ECU.

The S-series cranks are fairly stout, not quite as beefy as a 4g63, but still nice. Make sure you have a competient machinist inpect your crank for hairline cracks. Also remember that S cranks are nititrided from the factory, and as such will become WEAKER if machined for oversized bearings. Basically, if its out of spec, chuck it in the trash can.

Its notr super clean but its OK for DD duty. Basically its just slow as balls and heavy. Fantastic handling though..

Did you say you had a spare 3SGTE head??

It is the very reason why I'm going with a V6 instead
