As a student that can only work full-time 4 months out of the year (mind you, with none of the full-time benefits like health insurance, paid vacations, etc) I save most of my money for the school year. Last year I lived on $10k including financial aid. Each holiday, like today, I'm off work and everyone else is like "---- yes a day off!" except I don't get paid. Granted it's only $40ish to fill my tank but it's still about $30 a week I'm shorted for the 4 months I work. $10/hr doesn't go too far these days.

And it's not just the fuel cost itself, it's everything that needs to be transported or is made from petroleum. Tires, food, plastics, transported goods in general, prices are all through the roof. I'm saving extra this summer because I know I'm going to get fucked at the grocery store next school year. I'll need new tires sometime, and they've gone up a lot in the past year too.

found out you can't buy bottle rockets and fire crackers here any more (the fun stuff of course), so I picked up some dry ice and a case of bottled water.

way cheaper and louder than most fireworks anyways.

Is there free concert/party for your US day, or you make your own party?

Is the 4th july the birthday of US or there is another day for this? I know that it is the independance day, but I want to know more about US culture...

Fireworks in Lancaster are illegal but 10 miles away in Palmdale you can get them on every corner basically O0
Next to movies 8, Palmdale DMV parking lot. People were ------- everywhere. This place turned out to be was a goldmine in terms of less people, and had privacy to a certain extent.
