off subject but still in the subject of "super cars"
kinda funny you brought this up though. a friend and I were in a heated discussion with a guy about how much of a waste of money the ferrari enzo (after he said it was the greatest thing ferrari produced) was. then we looked on motor trend and noticed this:
take a test of a Ferrari Enzo, the Porsche Carrera GT, and the Ford GT (all lemans cars, but in factory form)
what do you think the outcome is. granted the prices were between $150g's and $650g's, the ford being the cheapest. ferrari being the $650g car.
long story short, the ford kicked some ***.

sorta interesting. im not really a ford guy, more of a GM guy, but I kinda thought this was a slap in the face to ferrari and porsche. johnny, you might like this.

Long story short, the GT got shitted on by a Lambo and a Ferarri, which only cost a few dozen g's extra.

wow...
sure the slr is an arm a leg and half your *** cheeks, but ---- it's THE mercedes.
Sure you could build a skyline to what ever potential you want, but i'll still no where compare to the slr. The SLR is a hand built work of art that performs just as well.
---- I coulda had like 5 or so FULLY BUILT hondas instead of my Benz, but no matter what the Hondas won't provide the luxury, comfort, and as one of the above posted stated "bling factor" that this money hungry gas guzzling benz has.
I don't know about you guys, but personally my goal is to have somewhat the best in life. Meaning what? In 20 years I don't plan on having a Honda as my 'Luxury car' in the garage. I am 22 in 3 days, and I drive a v12 benz. In 20 years I hope to have some top of the line high dollar sports car, heck in 5 years or less I hope to be able to get a SL65 or, if the top car at that time appeals to me, that one, or at least a model that is higher than the one I have now.
Maybe it's just me, but I am now rocking a benz, I'm not about to step down. I'm not saying that I won't ever own and build a honda ever again, as I do have plans on it. But as much as I love Hondas, they are just toys, and I need something more than that and to keep it on topic, the SLR would soooooo satisfy that.

Re: 2006 SLR mclaren
I saw that episode on TV and it came #1 in the track times comparison. It beat a Porsche GT4 and a bunch of other supercars. PS. It is badass. And is anyone else reminded of an infomercial when they watch Top Gear?
