Personally I don't think it is a good deal. I got my first 86 crx for $100 and drove it home. It was, and still is, really rotted but I still got an Si for $100. Although, nobody here on the board knows the condition of the car either. It could be immaculate except for the tranny.

I live on Long Island New York and I'm looking for another 1st gen crx shell with no engine or tranny, preferrably an Si, for around $100. I am just going to transfer everything from my car to the new shell.

Just to base what you're looking at to something else, I looked at an 87 silver si with 125k, new clutch, brakes, timing belt, working a/c, slight tap in rear bumper, and minor wheel well rust for $700. I didn't get it because I am not looking to spend that much just for a shell.

I found another black Si with 140k, tokicos all around, pacesetter header and exhaust, intake, new tires no rust anywhere for $1k.

There are a whole mess of dx's around here, but IMHO it'll take way too much effort to make them even remotely quick.

BTW..A friend just told me that on the next episode of MTV's "Pimp my ride" they're going to do up an 87 crx.

You probably won't have to deal with any rust situations unlike me up here in the northeast, but anyways...

Check for rust on the front end. Look at where the torsion bars connect to the body under the car. There are two bolts that secure the torsion bar tubes to the car and if this area is in any way rusted, or rotted stay far FAR away from the car. Your other options would be to weld in new pans or repair the holes, but it's alot of work.

Another place to take a look at is the rear axle. The panhard bar (I think that's what it's called) gets attached to the rear axle and the frame. You want to check all the welds holding it at both locations. It tends to want to pull the welds off at both places.

I think that's about it for now.
If you do purchase it good luck and keep us updated as to your progress.

Now we are talking. 90 Crx is worth 500. Dude, did you even go and see the car, yous should now if it was a first or second gen. Verify that info. Now if it is a 90 CRX Si selling for 500 in Central Florida and you don't want it, let me know, I'll go pick it up. You do know I'm in Kissimmee, Right?

its 1990 DX $500 iam picking it up monday since he's a dealer and he didnt call me back on friday before my bank closed. interior seems to be in great overall shape, a little rust in the back fender in the usual spot and the engine is not really peppy compared to my 96 hatch. dunno if it needs a tune up or Daul Point Fuel Infection sucks that much? this is just my back up so i can turbo my 96, because i know the way i drive ill blow my engine up.

If you're buying from the car dealer, tell him $500 out the door, no more. Otherwise they'll stick ya with taxes and ----.
