$1,200 intake... WTF

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/bolt-...installed.html

I don't get it. Granted there aren't a whole lot of aftermarket parts for the 8th gen civic, but this is just retarded.

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

I wonder if it really works? Even if it did I can't see a reason for spending that kind of money. He had the sweep fluid reservoir sweat-bands though.

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

What a tool. $1200 would be a great start to k-pro and a turbo setup.

edit: nm kpro isn't available for the new ones and even then it's $1k+ :l

to bad air isn't really being forced into that thing. he sure did get shafted.

it would have been better if he pucked up from the grill.

Oh my dear god... They're successfully getting air from the sole place where the LEAST amount of air flows over the front half of the car.

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

well when you think about it, air does goe in there. the boundary layer plays its part in this, but its not fast moving air per say.its pretty much just there.

thats pointless

TorganFM 03-17-2008 11:27 PM

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

I'm thinking most of the air is from the hole cut out for "drainage" or whatever in the bay.

No, but there are always people with too much money and not enough brains on every forum.

McBoost 03-18-2008 12:30 AM

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

Actually, since the new civic has a MAF (which is a complete pain in the ass, by the way), some intakes do throw off the AFR's. I'm not sure if it's because their MAF housings are no good or what.

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

if i had 1200 i would get a nice turbo and manifold (not intake)

Not yet.

My friend that has an 08 Si IM'd me earlier if I would pay $1200 for an intake. ---- THAT!

McBoost 03-18-2008 01:28 AM

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

Yep. K-pro or ANY other decent standalone has been produced yet. Rumors say that K-pro (or equivelant) will be out this summer. I'll cross my fingers but I won't hold my breath. Besides, I still owe a lot money on my car so I don't wanna dump money into it quite yet. I just found it funny what some people choose to spend their money on.

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

From a functional point of view that thing may be worthless, but if that company can mould about 20cents worth of plastic into something that goes for 1200$, thats a pretty good return on assets.

And some of them said "very nice looking intake. dynos please." WTF? I don't go to dyno every time I change my spark plug or my oil ;)

TorganFM 03-18-2008 12:37 PM

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

If you can spend $1200 on an intake I would spend the extra $100 for 3 pulls (1 stock, 1 with intake, 1 with intake after tweaks).

Oscar 03-18-2008 12:51 PM

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

yeah no ----. If you're spending that much on an intake, then I'd want to know how much power it's actually going to give.

I guess somewhere in that thread they posted that it netted about 6hp. :S

But it's inaccurate, considering you don't get the full ram air effect on a dyno that you do on the street.

TorganFM 03-18-2008 01:14 PM

Re: $1,200 intake... WTF

You might get more of a ram air effect depending on how the blower fan is pointed too. Ram airs probably need a whole wind tunnel to get the full effect.

What a ------- gay looking peice of ----. Total ------- waste of money.

Guy could make the same piece of ---- intake for next to nothing and then when it didn't make any power at least he wouldn't be out $1200. Retards, it doesn't even say mugen on it.

I coulda made that for under 100 bucks with a gallon of resign, some catahir, some fleece and a cardboard box. ha

I bet he has at least 350hp to the wheels now. What a tool. :S
