Y7 Rods

I was told if i was gonna turbo a Y7 on stock internals, that i would be bending rods with in the first month, i dont that would be the case since i am only planning on running 8 psi at the track and 5 for daily driving.

I was also told adding ne thing more then 30 h.p. to a d-series would also cause rods to bend.

Re:Y7 Rods

i ran 7.5-8psi daily for 6000 miles...running 9psi now. waiting to get it on a dyno to see what hp i'm getting. w/b tuned with a techedge at 9psi. stock rods are good for about 200whp so i've heard. i'm thinking i'm at about 180-190whp now.

Re:Y7 Rods

i ran 13psi daily for about two months....i figure i was at about 230 hp, but thats just a guess. If you can afford a new motor when it blows (they are cheap), dont be scared. Mine never blew, i just pulled it to build it up a little

hehe....20 is the plan...more like whatever it takes to run a mid 12....including scattering parts at the end of the track if necessary

The rods aren't weak, but they aren't that strong either.

My D16Y7 flattened connecting bearings, but this was entirely because I did not pay attention to the detonation.

The motor lasted almost 5 months with pinging at 5-6 psi daily, with me hot rodding around.

That should tell you something.
