It'll work, but don't expect much more than like 250whp.

dont listen to this guy lol. .42 .48 is gay for a gsr. u mite as well use the one u have since u already have it but ur gonna get bored cuz anything above like 5-6k mite feel like nothing. it'll be a lil torque monster but that's bout it. gsr's like t3/t4's any trim.

What he said!
i have a wrx... no top end :-\ and plenty of lag. You might have a little less lag due to higher compression but a gsr would suffer big time top end

Re: WRX TURBO???

the wrx turbo runs out of breathe on my z6 so god knows how shitty it would feel on a b18c1

Re: WRX TURBO???

im running it on my y7/y8. it is a quick spool torque monster but for your bigger motor you'll want a t3/t4 of some trim. no comment on the top end of the wrx, im still running the internal gate at 7psi.

this is HMT man, we dont buy turbo kits here. just stick around, read the faq's, search around alot, look at the setup's in the "Turbo Projects" part of the menu bar... trust me after a good amount of reading and researching you'll be happier you pieced together your own kit.. you'll gain knowledge, save money, and have better quality parts in the long run ;)

WRX turbo and .42/.48 are about the exact same thing.

n that would be why i told him he mite as well use what he got if he can't get another one, no need to trade if there basically the same. they'll both die up top

Yup, those 80's turbo Subarus are real hard to find. There are only forty in the local junkyard, if they haven't been crushed. Inconsequential production numbers. They only made slightly more of them than Honduh Civics - there's a rare beast right there.

Re: WRX TURBO???

my wrx had gotten full spool 15+ psi at 2700rpm but fell on its a55 at round 6k. i would say for a small dseries that wants fast spool its not to bad of a choice. an oem turbo for bout $100 with bout 20k mile average should be a nice deal. wrx can make bout 230-240 whp with a decent tune. thats bout 290+ crank. wrx's awd system sucks out alot of juice.

Re: WRX TURBO???

flanges can be found at www.uniquemotorsports.com

td04L is good for the d-series, but a little small on the larger disp/higher revving b-series.

Re: WRX TURBO???

In fact, those 80's turbo Subaru's used a short intermediate pipe to connect to the turbo, with an easily removed mild steel 3 bolt flange. This makes them impossilbe to use... or at least slightly less impossible than turboing a Honda Civic, which no one to date has ever done.
