Default Wow. Loss of Power...(Results Inside)

I just got back from the track and due to every car breaking I ran once and sucked it up with a 14.9 at 96mph. It was a bad run, yes, but I honestly felt in the car a HUGE loss of power. My Dad said he watched the car smoke as it went down the track. I'm going to pull the charge pipe and what not because I have a feeling my turbo seals are going.

When I was in 1st I was easing into it and felt nothing so I had it to the floor and it didn't even spin over 1st. On the drive home I had it smashed through first and it chirped itself like 2-3 times when it normally SPPPINNNNS them off at full boost. I'm lost guys, I really and truly am. I was SOOOO pumped and then this sudden loss of power and my heart has sunk.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? I'm pretty stumped and looking for anything you fellas have for me to offer. It's really confusing and kind of random. Oh and the announcer shouting the 100mph club memberships was killing me becuase I trapped 100mph at another slower track. On a good note, a 5th gen turbo Civic Ex ran 13.9 at 101. VERY nice car, too.

This all seems to be the case. NOW, rebuild to the turbo or the motor? I was going to look at the turbo today and TRY to find a compression tester to rule out the motor. It seems you think it's my motor taking a poop, correct?

Never looked at the gauge going down the track, but when I left I was ripping and yes it was getting full boost. The couplers I checked and were all fine, but I need to check the 1st one for oil.

If my motor is bad I'm going to be highly agitated.

sounds like you detonated through your piston ring lands my friend

Yes, the turbo may have started to leak oil out of the turbine but it may very well be due to the pressure in your oil pan preventing a proper oil return....

Have your engine compression tested to find out.

good luck

If you need an engine, I'll look around for ya man. Do the comp. test and get back to me

Yea, I have a PCV set up and catch can to PREVENT the possibility of the ringlands blowing out. However, what you are thinking is that due to detonation they are fired? Well, my Pap has a compression tester, but he says it doesn't work sooooo, I guess I'll look/ask around for one to use. What do you mean about the backing up due to pressure in the oil pan? I thought I would be good with that PCV vented and the rings would be the LAST thing to go. Thanks for the interest and all the help man.

Thanks Dan, and I'm praying it's just the turbo, but it really feels like the whole car is *******. Dude, I'm seriously bummed and lost about now. I never really even beat on the car either, I mean who gets 39 and 38mpg on a turbo Honda from abusing it hard? I don't even rape this thing EVER. Ugh, least Dad isn't beating me up, yet.

Thanks for trying to help me out fellas this is quite depressing.

The person who told you that a good PCV and a catch can would prevent damaging the ring lands because of detonation was laughing at you, dude. You should have that same person pay for your engine job!

No not because of detonation, but for the fact of the pressure on the ringlands are lessened due to the realease of vapors, etc. in the crankcase. See? Detonation I know has nothing to do with it. LOL. :1 I'm looking at compression testers now, happen to know the spark plug thread size or reccomend a cheap, good tester?

So you think tuning can be the fault or what? Too much timing?

yeah. That, and/or a lack of fuel at high revs due to the pump or injectors being maxed out
