Default Worth-while to moidfy stock manifold on D17?

First post on a new forum:

I was piddling with some images in microsoft paint (while at work) and was curiuos about some feedback. I know exhaust mainfolds can be custom made or even modified from factory manifolds. My 04 vic has the d17a1 motor so anything d16 or d15 most likely will not mount up to it and most of the d17 manifolds are very costly.

So using these images I was curious if it is possible to adapt a flange or modify these manifolds from the d17 dx and ex for use of turbo charging?

Con's obviously would be diameter of piping, or the length and log style of the dx, but other than that, is the material good? Would they crack if altered and welded?

Thanks.

I am going to be making D17 manifolds so I checked out my sister's car. If you used the stock mani and cut it like you see in your pic you wont have enough room for the turbo on the driver's side. Go pop your hood and check. I was just gonna do log mani's and have the turbo flange offset to the passenger side. Haven't made any yet so I don't know exactly the dimensions. I was just throw them on Eghey. Once I get one made that fits perfect I will post the offset.

it's seems to me that first manifold can be used to make turbo manifold, but second is not. cos turbo will sit way low and you will be unable to get enough oil flow from return line.
