Turbo the thing.

My engine has 156k miles and will probably have 160k when I finally slap on the boost. I plan on using it as a learning experience until it blows up.

200-225whp from what I hear is a safe number for stock d series. My goal is just 200.

I'm going to keep everyone posted and kind of chart my progress as I start this project. If anyone has any set up idea's I'm more then happy to hear them. Here's the low down,if you want to help.I have16y7 with 105k.I'm looking to get around 170-200 whp, prolly closer to 200 because its a coupe, not a hatch and ill want the extra hp to move the heavier shell. Thanks again everyone for your replies and your insight,I really do appriciate it.

I didn't want to start the process just yet,but I found a HF manifold and a IHI turbo from a old school isuzu. Its about the size of a T25 and has a internal wastegate.I'm planning on picking it up on friday.I'm so excited

AHAHHAHAHA This sounds like it could be one of my friends at home. He has a 91 JDM B16 CRX with I/H/E and I beat him in a race. I am running 95 Del Sol Si D16z6 turbo 10 psi on a little IHI RHB5 turbo. Seeing how that car is about 200-300 lbs lighter I think I did good.

During the race we were side by side through 1st and 2nd, but then I just pulled away in 3rd gear. He dynoed at 143 whp. I haven't dynoed yet and wont until I fix my head gasket, ARP head bolts, and bigger turbo. Like a T3 maybe a .42/.48. I need to find one with a internal wastegate. So I want 250 plus. Hopefully I can get it.

So yeah its worth it. I beat a JDM B16 swaped CRX. Lets do the figures.
91 CRX SI
Weight w/driver - 2,400 lbs
Acutal Car Weight - 2,174 lbs
WHP - 143whp
JDM B16 I/H/E

95 Del Sol Si
Weight w/driver - 2,600
Acutal Car Weight - 2.414 lbs
WHP - ?? Less then 160whp I think
Stock D16Z6, blown Headgasket, Ramhorn Mani, IHI RHB5 turbo, 2.5 dp to stock exhaust, 10psi

Default Getting ready to turbo the D

So today I picked up the turbo, manifold and downpipe. The turbo is small, but looks perfect for this car.Now I have the key part out of the way,now I can start to put the other pieces together as funds permit.

There ya go. D-series, is the best engineered engine for it's cost. It is indestructible, cheap, and can easily own the DOHC with not all that much work. I know this is not turbo related, but honda tech got the same horsepower (actually a little more) just by putting PM7 pistons, cold air intake and 99 EX exhaust mani and an exhaust system then a stock B16. This is just to show that the mighty D is the best. And yes I know high comp pistons are the devil.
