my buddy's oil pump went out on his turbo bug, and he blew up the motor from lack of oil. you think his turbo would be fucked because of this? is there anything in particular i should check for when checking out the turbo?

 

how easy does it turn?

if it isnt hard its prolly fine.

 

i don't know yet, i'll see tomorrow. so if it spins freely it'll be ok right?

 

check for in and out shaft play thats the worst kinda shaft play. also id spray break clean throught the senter section and see if any engine bearing material made its way into the turbo if so clean it out before you use it on your engine

thats bullshit! were there chunks of ---- in the oil pain? if there was the turbos junk or on the way to becoming junk really fast

 

strong words, chunks of metal are tough to push through an oil feed line... it may be ok...

In and Out play, or thrust bearing play is the worst.

 

Not to thread jack....but at the local track here there is a 10 second turbo bug who always races the 10 second turbo karmen ghia. His licence plate reads "nofatchx". I will have to post the video, it's great!
