I bought this Turbo from a friend. Its the TD04-15g from a Greddy kit. It spins freely and has minimal shaft play. The only problem is the chips on the cold side.



Will this hurt anything? If so, how much?

 

Ouch. It will hurt the performance a bit, but I doubt you could notice the difference. Just make sure you get a good deal on it.

Do you guys really think it won't be useable? I have used a turbo in probably worse shape than that and I honestly didn't notice a damn bit of performance loss. I'm sure on a bench it would show a loss, but the butt dyno?

maybe not in terms of airflow. but sooner then later that missing material and the imbalnce cuase by it will destroy the turbo bearings.

I gave him $120. I still think its a decent deal. I could've paid the same amount and received a seized junk T3 or not received anything at all.

I think I'll give it a shot. Worse thing that happens is I need a rebuild or new turbo.

I'll call it "Project Ticking Time Bomb"

you can pull-a-turbo for 50 dollars a junkyard
