Okay my friend has a extremly ghetto turbo kit but it boosted his SI. So he wrecked that and now has a 89 dx. He bolted the turbo onto the dx and it is not creating boost. You can hear it spool but no pull is going on. His boost gauge is reading 0 psi intake manifold pressure but we tapped the intercooler piping right before the piece of ---- dx intake inlet and it read 7 psi. Now Ive tried everything and I have no clue why its doing this. Does anyone have some suggestions. Thanks

 

running a intercooler, charge pipe leak or intercooler leak?

 

yes there is an intecooler but boost is reaching the throttle body or that cheap *** plastic thing on top of the dx manifold. That is where we taped the charge pipe and it read 7 psi while we were driving. But hooking the boost gauge to a vacuum line of the manifold it only reads vacuum and no boost at all no matter how hard you get on it. I dont know what the hell it could be. The motor does have high miles. Could that be it.

 

Come on guys i really need some advice. Anyone out there got some advice.

 

What were you getting the vac/boost signal from before you switched it? FPR?

Edit: He'll probably really wanna convert that thing to MPFI before boosting it.

somewhere between your turbo outlet and your throttle body, there is a leak. find it, seal it, and vote for pedro.

 

the same thing happend to me on my first set up and the problem was were the hf manifold was were the welded to the adapter plate. i could also here the turbo spooling but i was not geting and boost, i didnt figure this out untill i took the kit out so give it a try that might be it.

 

It's gotta be the big black thing that says DPFI on it. Seal it up real good

 

if you are getting boost to the throttle body and not to the intake manifold then you need to make sure that you don't have any leaks on the intake manifold itself. I would try what the last guy suggested, the boost has to be going somwhere.
