When i hit boost (about 7 PSI) i see puffs of smoke behind me, is this normal? I had my turbo rebuilt not long ago and i'm running a restrictor valve so i'm pretty sure its not the turbo. The smoke is oil smoke, blue and puffs all the way till i stop hitting boost, and i'm also running a catch can.

mine smoked cause my ringlands a re broken.

 

I have a little black smoke out the tailpipe under WOT and full boost but thats because I'm in the 11's AFR. I've seen factory STI's smoke out the exhaust and they are still running cats I wouldn't be to concerned with it depending on ammount, color and the reason.

 

My car puffs black when I powershift But otherwise no smoke at all. Fresh re-build and 1K on the motor has a lot to do with that though All motors with lots of miles on them and old rings will eventually give-in to blow-by if beaten on hard enough.

 

Ok its my motors then. When i was N/A it would puff very little blue smoke when i beat on it, none that i could even notice just my friend behind me told me so. My compresion test showed 150 all the way across.

NO, what difference does WOT make while i'm cranking it. I don't even think you're suppose to floor the pedal while cranking it cause it'll flood the damn engine.
