where to put dohc zc oil feed line, added pics

ok so i know you put the oil feed line on the pressure sender, but there is no way i can get that ---- out.
i can't get to it, there is all kinds of stuff in the way.
i think i would have to take the head off to reach it.
any other ideas of where to put this thing.

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, any place besides pressure sender.

you cant get to it from underneath the car? you could also do an oil filter sandwich if you had to

Wank.a.lot 03-23-2008 12:04 AM

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, any place besides pressure sender.

ok so i got the sender off, but the reason i couldn't get it off will not allow my tee to fit.
the zc has some kind of oil cooler on it, plus the black box pcv thing.
i've decided to go to a place tomorrow and get an extender so the tee is a few inches further from the block.

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, any place besides pressure sender.

I have a obd1 dohc sc and all i did was you a T and hook up my oil feed and the sending uint back up and put the oil filter back on

Wank.a.lot 03-23-2008 12:33 AM

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, any place besides pressure sender.

does the obd1 dohc zc have an oil cooler where the filter goes? and the black pcv box?
cause there is no way in hell it'll fit without an extension. i'll take a pic after i get the extension and everything in.

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, any place besides pressure sender.

if it wont fit without an extension (which i disagree with) you should run a hose from the sender to your firewall, and put the T there. If you have a long erection sticking out of the back of your block its gonna rattle itself out and take your threads with it

I would agree. I have seen these break off at the block as well. I can't imagine it would be all to easy to dig the threaded portion out of the block.

it's cool that you disagree, but if you want to come over and look at it you can.
so you say i need to run a line to my firewall and put the tee there.

here are some pics of what is in the way. you can see the coolant line coming out to the left of the pressure sender hole. that is a hard line and will not move for a tee to fit. on the other side is the black box with hoses coming out of it. below is the oil cooler that came on the dohc zc. all i need is about 2 inches of extension for the tee to clear all that ----.
so you guys say no extension, and just go with a firewall mount.

why does it look like to me that you have lots of room? Maybe your not used to putting big things in little places :1

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, added pics

trust me it doesn't fit. if i didn't have to thread it in the hole it would fit fine, but i can't spin it around to thread it.

which way are you putting it in? With the tee oriented so neither port faces straight out? Turn it the other way and thread it in there without any other fittings in it, then put the fittings in.

I had the same problem with mine :( So I went to the hardware store and rigged up a couple 90 degree fittings until I got it to clear, then ran my feed off that. Its going to break at some point but I dont daily drive the car... Ill get one of those oil distribution blocks soon enough

here is another option. use the oil pump bolt for the feed.

yeah i think i'm just gonna endup running a line to the firewall then putting the tee there.
just gotta make a trip to the plumbing store

that oil pump bolt is kinda cool

Zeniceguycrx 03-23-2008 10:34 PM

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, added pics

it has to be a flexable line to the firewall or it will brake
Mine is all hardline but it only atatches to the engine so there is no flex in it

I dont see what the big deal is my zc has the cooler on it and i had no problem puttin a T up in there, if you remove the oil filter you have all kinds of room to screw the tee in and once its in put the filter back on

I guess my "ZC" is a USDM 89 D16A1 but yea even the standard T fitting from tunertoys wouldnt work. Basically I needed the 1/8 inch pipe spot to be a little farther out from the engine... Whats this oil pump fitting and why are they not more common? Id rather use that

i guess your zc is not a zc then is it? :1

and i do have big ass hands. i didn't say my hands didn't fit. i said the tee wouldn't fit
my paycheck was bigger then planned so i'm getting an oil sandwich

when i did my little brothers zc in his crx, i used the tunertoys/stealthmode fitting, the only way i could get it on was to take all of the fittings off, put the T on, then put the fittings on the T when it was screwed into the back of the block allready

WHat you had made up looks like it would fit in really well. Just put it in there one piece at a time.

Wank.a.lot 03-29-2008 08:41 PM

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, added pics

even one piece at a time it won't fit.
the hole that the oil line goes into is blocked by a coolant line for the stock oil cooler

Re: where to put dohc zc oil feed line, added pics

that looks like it should work.
