Default What's the max I should boost without using a boost controller?

I was wondering whats the max I should boost without using a boost controller? People said if ur only boosting like 5-6psi, you wont really need a separate boost controller, the max i'll be boosting is 0.5bar(7.25psi), is it a good idea not to run a boost controller if I run that high? I dont wanna spend the extra $300+ to get a elec. boost controller if I really dont need one.

well check this out man.... Your confused about a boost controller.... a wastegate is what regulates how much you can boost. Whether its internal or external it is set at a certain amount of boost and then it opens and you can not boost more then that. the boost controller lets you boost more then what your wastegate allows. anyways bottom line is check what your wastegate is set at... if its a 7 and thats what you want to boost... you dont need a boost controller.. if its at 3.5 then youll need a boost controller to increase to your desired range

you can make your own boost controller for less than 5 bucks or set the waste gate to 7 psi get a boost gauge

well i was thinkig about something for the wastegate..

now this valve could be placed inline with the line that goes to the bottom of the wastegate. now finding these valves in the rage of 3-15psi might be tough but they do have an adjustment screw on em..

this would make sure the wastegate doesnt gradually lift like it does and provide the turbo with maximum flow until you hit desired boost, vale would pop open slam wastegate open and dump..

any thoughts?

Can you adjust the WG on a DSM T-25? That's the turbo I think I'll be using for my TurboD project. What is it set at stock? How do you know the boost you are running? What does the boost controller do then if you can change it on the WG? As for Uberdata, what does the Boost do on there? Does it just change air/fuel or does it really change your boost your running? Thanks. Tons of newb questions I know, but I'm starting to hit the finer parts of turboing so I can start gathering parts soon.
