What liquid conducts/dissapates heat best (for use in an intercooler)? Water, antifreeze, Water-Wetter? Alcohol/water mix? The reason I ask is because I will be working on a custom kit for an E30 and as those who know know, there is little room for an air->air... also, what do you guys think of using an oil cooler to cool the water?

i don't know about the liquid but i wouldn't use that oil cooler for a heatsink. go with something that was made to flow water. and is also bigger. what year e30 my brother has one(not turbo) there is pics some where on here

I'd probably use a external automatic transmission cooler. Always thought they would work good. As far as what to use? I'd probably just water with a thing of wetter water.

yeah... I want something in the shape of a small square that i can mount somewhere with a small fan over it... kinda like a baby radiator... maybe it's not worth it I'd like to see what the differences are in temperature.

youll need something with an anti corrosive propery. so water is far mroe efficient at conducting heat then anti freeze. but for anti freeze to work youll need it to be at least a 1/3 anti freeze blend to keep it from corroding. Thats about as good as it gets BTW.

I used a $40 dollar tranny cooler from advance auto to use as an oil cooler in place of my ac condensor, I relayed it to the cooling fan to turn on the A/C condensor fan at the same time.

Ninja Del sol... got pics btw, 4 anybody that cares, the best liquid is a water / Redline water wetter mix... water-wetter contains anti-corrosion agents (not as much as antifreeze though) and breaks down air bubbles in water, helping it gather/dissapate heat better... antifreeze is krap and doesn't absorb heat as well as plain water, much less water/water wetter mix...

oh...almost forgot... has anybody ever considered or tried using an a/c condenser as a radiator... I've heard of it on other cars and since most of us have useless condensors since we can't use a/c, it would be perfect. Those fins do seem abit thin though...

an A/C condenser would make a great radiator for an air-water intercooler, they're pretty big and light.
