What?? still having problems boosting?

if the PCV or positive crank pressure was be the problem, it would have smoked all the time. Not just after the turbo got loose. makes sense?

don't insist using that turbo if the shaft got loose. something has obviously caused the bearings to prematurely wear. that's either oil starvation, overspinning, or a loss of balance when clocking the turbo or if it sucked a piece of something.

if you send the turbo to me, I'll inspect it and put it back in shape. unless there's a sign of abuse or neglect on it, since it's been less than 6 months, the re-rebuild is covered under warranty.

You said the turbo was rebuilt. Did you allow for the proper break-in period. I know a dude that had a turbo rebuilt on an rx7, and was suppost to break it in 500miles, but he was rough on it, and blew it within a week.

break in on a turbo? since when? :P

i am the one warrantying my turbos and i always allowed everyone to beat them as much as they want from day one!!
Unless there is an outstanding problem with the turbo, it's installation or if you're overspinning or overboosting it, it should last for a long while. That's why i have NO PROBLEM honoring my 6 months warranty. MY turbos RARELY come back and from the few warranty rebuilds i do perform, I'm sure a fair amount failed for reasons 100% out of my reponsibility but that can't be proven so i shut up and still fix it. ....Mmmm, maybe I shouldn'T have said that!!

Hrmm you might have a rod or main bearing on its way out. I had 2 turbos fail before I ever heard a rod knock. Yessir bearing material in the oil. Tiny tiny flakes will kill a turbo! Time to drain your oil and check it with a flashlight.

When I bought my turbo, thier little "install sheet" said that you should make sure to "prime" the turbo first by pouring oil into the oil inlet until it is filled up BEFORE ever starting you motor. It makes sense, if the sleeve (bearing) gets scored before the oil gets into the turbo there's your little metal flakes again...if you are running a restrictor, it may take a couple of seconds to get oil down to it and that may be enouph to kill it right there...
