I was wrong here, 1994's have 54mm 95-98 is 56mm, 99-02 is a new 54mm.

hx52 = teh sex so from that we can assume that holset = teh sex and from there teh sex ~= the greatness.

No, it's a 550 whp big shaft turbo that comes in T3 flange, and can be had for $250-300. I'd say that's comparable to 60-1 or GT35, especially since the HX35's wheel designs are somewhere between T04E and GT-era technology. I'd say it's a pretty ------- solid unit.

I don't disagree that the straight HX40 is bigger than the GT35r. But...I was speaking of a hybrid. Thats technically what a GT35 is anyways. The newest HX40's have a 60mm inlet (7blade); the 6/8 blade units are 59mm and some 58mm IIRC. The VGT turbo is basicly this HX35/40 hybrid - 60/85mm in/exducer, and a HX35-sized tubine wheel (mainly since the housing opens to a ~25cm size, which is like >2.0AR). The thing is the Holsets are designed for constant (and higher) boost, which is why their housings are physically larger.

Regardless Holset FTW. You really can't go wrong no matter which unit you get. For the OP, get an HY35 - its closest Holset to your basemap's turbo.
