with completely stock engine.
check compression/blow by and make sure it does not burn oil is all you can do. (make sure it is in good condiction.)

A set of Eagle rods and a set of forged pistons will make you sleep at night alot better if you ever decide to run more than 10psi on a stock D.

Me personally, I'd rebuild it if you have the money, if not just dont expect anything over 240whp.

Just do your basic tune up stuff (plugs, oil, water pump, timing belt, filters, cap, rotor, etc...) and maybe a compression test if your worried. A stock d16z6 can take a lot of abuse with good fuel management and tuning. Then later on down the road if that's not enough power go ahead and build it up. I am planning on building my motor up this winter, but I have been really happy with my stock z6.
